[Serious Guide] How To Improve Your "Gamesense"
By kingMELO
A guide about how to train your personnal gamesense with some tips, this isn't about getting a Proleague/CL gamesense but just some ways to improve your gamesense mainly for ranked/faceit or casual if you're that kind of person.

Don't forget that "You cant learn gamesense, that's something that comes with time and you cant force it." So it's just tips and some of them may be obvious but will probably still help new comers.

First, what is gamesense ?

Gamesense is what we could call reactions in-game, everyone has a gamesense but not everyone has a good one. Being clever/smart helps alot but in video games we could say that everyone is smart but many makes the mistake of letting their brain "on the side" and play with their instinct (Talking about when you want to win not when you're "chilling"). Playing and trusting your instincts can be great and you will usually use your instincts in a clutch situation but sometimes it makes you do mistakes because you haven't thought about this or this. Using your instinct is also using your gamesense but it's not as effective as if you had took three seconds to think about all the issues especially if your gamesense isn't that great.

Of course gamesense isn't everything, having a good aim helps alot but if you manage to combine good gamesense with a good aim you'll be a good player. Training only your gamesense or only your aim can be like IRL only training your strenght and not training your endurance. (vice-versa)

And don't think too much. You have to find the perfect middle between thinking and not thinking too much, especially in attack aka the side where you will have to think the most "Where to push, what i could encounter, what i will try to do, how i'll try to do it etc" That's why you will find yourself pushing in the last seconds in many attack rounds especially if you don't find where to enter/push.
How to train your gamesense

And now some tips to train your gamesense or improve it faster :

The most effective one :
Always take two seconds at the end of a round and ask yourself, what i did good, what i did wrong, what i should do to avoid doing the same mistake and then ask yourself what did you learned ?

It's a great way to improve your gamesense and definitly one of the fastest ways. It's also a great way to avoid being angry at the game since you'll think about what you possibly did wrong wich will avoid you from blaming the game for no reason or trying to find an excuse. (Blaming the game is definitly the best way for you to stack at a level or wast your time. There's no use on blaming the game or calling for hack. There's almost no hackers in low elos or casual so don't call for hack because someone clutched or prefired and just learn from them.)

Watching pros :

Watching stream or videos of pro/good players is a great way to improve your gamesense. You can learn angles, how to react to an ennemy action and many other things, but keep in mind that they sometimes takes bigger risks than you should do just because they are insanely good. If you're new to the game/community here is an exemple of good players you can watch :

https://www.twitch.tv/pengu A top world player
https://www.twitch.tv/kixstar Insane gamesense because of his experiences
https://www.twitch.tv/beaulo Known for his good aim but still has a really good gamesense.

You can also watch replay of proleague match.

Playing against better opponents :

A great way, the better the opponents are the faster you will improve.
Best way to find better opponents especially if you're stuck in a low elo is to play R6TM (Faceit) : https://www.faceit.com/en/organizers/850d42f3-e0c9-40b2-94a4-51c2a1cd291e/R6TM

R6TM is a separate queueing system, it has it's own ELO. When a match is made ten people need to queue in the same lobby for a match to start, you join a voice channel and one of the players hosts a custom game. The rules are what you see in Pro League.

Your mates will probably hate you if you make mistakes but don't listen to them and just play. Try to learn from them if they play good. You'll play against pro players alot in R6TM wich is definitly a good thing.

Playing alot :

The basic way obviously, playing alot is the common way for training your gamesense but is of course the one that will take you the most time. You have to put alot of hours in the game and you'll learn from your mistakes. See every mistakes has a lesson and you'll become bettter.
And now some basic tips :

Those tips are kind of "obvious" but still as a reminder :

Eat/drink :

Always drink and eat before you play, it's like school your brain can't be concentrated if you're hungry or thirsty. You will have more problems to learn and you will make more mistakes. Not eating can also make you slower in terms of reflexes (Wich is deadly in this tip of games)

Sleep :

Don't play when you're tired or avoid doing it. You will make more mistakes and it will frustrate you. It's like not eating, your brain will act slower and you will have more problems being concentraded.

Warm your hands :

Your hands/fingers needs to be warm when you play. Colder hands means colder muscles, colder muscles means slower muscles. If you're living in a "cold" country/state and you have problems keeping your hands warm then you should probably think about buying a hand-warmer. (Like the Kaliento gaming hand warmers, it cost something around 40€/45$)

If you want to show some support or just know more about who wrotte this :

As always i hope this guide helped someone and if you think it can be useful to one of your friends feel free to share it.
