Introduction
This isn't a very difficult topic and i'll keep things short. The process for this is pretty simple but since there is no guide on steam as of yet, i thought i might as well chuck this up.

For any number of reasons you may want to at some point back-up the save data for one of your games in the Space Program. Whether you are changing computers, redownloading the game or are simply paranoid about crashes- regular saving and backing up is the way to go for you.
Backing up and Importing
Simply said, making a back-up of your personal game is as simple os copying and pasting a folder. The folder for Kerbal Space Program save data can be found in the directory:

(D:)>Steam>steamapps>common>Kerbal Space Program>saves

(Please note that your gamedata may be in the (C:) drive rather than the (D:) drive)

In the saves folder there should be at least thee folders: The training levels, The stock scenarios and your own game saves. Simply copy your entire game folder from this location with everything still inside it.

From here all you need to do is paste the folder either into a safe place for storage until you want to use it again, or to place it into a new version of the game folders.

To put an old save into new game folders, simply paste the entire folder into the 'saves' folder, as shown in the above directory.

Yep! Each of your saves will be a unique folder within the 'Saves' folder. Copy and paste the whole thing and put it somewhere safe as a back up.

So, do I just copy my saves in the saves folder?

Just to add once again - by editing save file "persistent" via notepad it is possible to do a whole lot of things, but best that aint exactly cheating are cleaning space debris. Debris is an object that starts with VESSEL line then { opening, name string containing name like "fuel shuttle debris" and then about a hundred or two lines of text till the next VESSEL word. Just do backup this file before editing, mkay? Even if you do know the basic syntax, you may be wrong and earase the wrong stuff or the program itself may invoke some satan to screw the cleanup - better safe than with only sorry memories of 10 full jumbos orbiting Minmus that took a week to get there.

Uninstalling and reinstalling only deletes about a third of the folders. If you want to get rid of EVERYTHING, then you can manually delete everything and reinstall.

Im really not sure about that, i do know of one instance when I have uninstalled KSP and reinstalled it and was shocked to find that my saves were still there, so it could work, but i would'nt depend on it.
