How to play black man
By stagge
Many people dislike playing SCP-106, also known as Uncle Larry, Radical Larry, just Larry, Old Man, or Black Man.

My goal with this guide is to educate you, the reader, on how to properly play the black man.

Basics
Alright, so I think we're all aware of who and/or what SCP-106 is, but if you aren't, I recommend reading these[www.scp-wiki.net] two[scp-secret-laboratory-official.fandom.com] articles.

"SCP-106 appears to be an elderly humanoid, with a general appearance of advanced decomposition. This appearance may vary, but the “rotting” quality is observed in all forms. SCP-106 is not exceptionally agile, and will remain motionless for days at a time, waiting for prey. SCP-106 is also capable of scaling any vertical surface and can remain suspended upside down indefinitely. When attacking, SCP-106 will attempt to incapacitate prey by damaging major organs, muscle groups, or tendons, then pull disabled prey into its pocket dimension. SCP-106 appears to prefer human prey items in the 10-25 years of age bracket."

So, Uncle Larry's thing is to send you into his pocket dimension (seen above). This pocket dimension is a sort of labyrinth, consisting of eight dark hallways, two of which will allow you to escape and reappear in his containment chamber.

The Old Man can also walk through closed doors, making him particularly useful for interrupting the gathering in SCP-914's chamber, if SCP-079 is not present.

The final unique ability SCP-106 has is to create a portal wherever you're currently standing, using the inventory menu. This can act as a recall point or safe space, as you have the ability to teleport back to it whenever necessary.

Now, right off the bat, it should be clear that Larry is not supposed to be a combat SCP.

First of all, he's a relatively slow SCP, unable to catch up to a sprinting target (unhindered by the environment. Second, his footsteps are the loudest and most iconic of all of the SCPs, and they'll alert everyone within a three-room radius to his presence.

This is further evidenced by his low health pool (700 HP). Even with his insanely high bullet resistance, he can be dispatched quickly either with his recontainment protocol (femur breaker, requires maximum containment chamber access and a sacrifice) or the Micro HID,[scp-secret-laboratory-official.fandom.com] melting him in less than 5 seconds if aimed correctly.

Tactics
Stealth Approach

As stated in the previous section, our favorite black ghost guy is not an SCP meant for direct combat.

You might be wondering:

"Well, Stick Figure, how am I supposed to get kills, then?"

The answer is quite simple:

Don't get caught in direct combat, especially not with a team carrying the Micro HID or Chaos Insurgency. That's just asking to be terminated.

Instead, when faced with an opponent you're unlikely to reach, teleport to your tar pit portal thing you placed down earlier, preferably in your own containment chamber (or, if already guarded by another SCP, in important rooms, such as the Alpha Warhead[scp-secret-laboratory-official.fandom.com] chamber).

Rather than rushing in and being pumped full of lead or vigorously electrocuted, play like a predator. Hide in doors (pass through midway), in small rooms, in corners, behind walls, and next to doors. This will minimize the amount of damage you'll take and increase the number of kidnappings you'll get. Make sure to close every door behind you, creating a maze-like environment for the enemy and giving you more places to hide.

After three or four kills late-game, check back at your containment chamber to ensure your own survival. Someone is bound to have found the correct hallway, marking it for all others to see and escape from. This is especially dangerous if you capture someone with maximum containment access (such as the Containment Engineer, Facility Manager, or O5 cards), as they can open the door to the femur breaker and sacrifice themselves or another to re-contain you. Aim to return as quickly as possible if you believe you are in danger, so you can swiftly stop the door from being opened and compromising your freedom.

If desired, it is possible to guard your containment chamber from afar if there is only one way into it, though I don't recommend it, as you're farther away and thus unable to halt potential re-containment.

Alternatively, if you wish to play a small bit more aggressively, give a small chase to those you see come close. This playstyle will get you more kills, but it will also alert any potential hostiles to your presence and (possibly) your location.

Tanking

Another tactic (thanks, andy) is to act as a tank or bullet sponge for your allies. SCP-106 has one-fourth the total health pool of all SCPs, yet takes five times less damage. All bullets of any caliber do a mere 2 damage.

This is especially helpful when working with SCP-096, as you can allow him to enter a rage, and stand in front to absorb incoming fire.
Conclusion
In summary, Big Man Larry is not an up-front and confrontational SCP, preferring to wait for his prey to come to him, rather than him finding them.

SCP-106 is probably my favorite SCP to play, but it bothers me to see people play him as they would SCP-939 or SCP-096.

I hope this guide was helpful to everyone looking to wreak havoc as the black man.

Another good tactic, leave your portal inside elevators so that people will walk in and get trapped. Be careful of grenades though. And only try this if the enemt either A) Doesn't know you're there B) Doesn't know you are there, or C) are not armed with the Micro.

forgot to mention, you can work with an 096 as 106 by going in front of him, letting people see him/rage him and just standing in front to soak up all damage.

camping is applicable to every SCP that isn't 096, tbh.
106 is good for damage sponging and making camping monkeys in 914/gates be forced out of their position. just have him call up the elevator for gates when he gets through, so mtf have to open it to escape. make an 049 or 173 hide behind the door behind whichever room and let them kill any stragglers.

Most importantly. The playstyle you outlined in your guide is a good and completely valid playstyle. But due to the fact that his bullet resistance actually make him a much tankier SCP than his comrades. He can also be played as a tank or bruiser, taking hits for your weaker SCPs who have weaknesses of their own.

Hope this was helpful. As a summary, your guide details a great soloplay strategy. But if you can communicate well with your team, you are better off filling in for your team's weaker engagements.
