The Mnggal-Mnggal's origins are unknown it is thought the hyperspace anomaly separating the Unknown Regions from the highly populated portion of the galaxy was put there by the Celestials to limit their infection. They are a sentient liquid ooze which is able to shapeshift into different forms its ability to mimic living beings in its natural state isn't believable like other shapeshifters though. Mnggal-Mnggal's common method is through infecting living beings then using their bodies whilst killing them, an infected can pass as an ordinary being until death sets in, then rot & zombification. They take great pleasure in torturing the infected both physically & emotionally prior to their death & repurposing technology as it has done on isolated Imperial worlds.
