G29 Gear stick not registering certain gears? Read this...
By Trent
You might try going into 1st, but Assetto (or in fact any racing game) thinks you're in 3rd. or you want to use 6th gear, and it thinks you're in 4th. Disassembly is required in this tutorial and it may help you (after you've tried everything else)

Disassembly
Here's a premade video of the shifter disassembly:
Tightening the parts

You'll need to remove this section with the 2 black and 4 silver screws.

The problem with my particular shifter was half the little green ball end had snapped off, as you can see in the green highlighted circle. This particular part has to be rigid, and there's 2 little plastic bits that hold this green ball in place. I predrilled holes at the side of this device, and screwed in two screws as per the red highlighted circles. This made the object stay very tight.

There are 2 of these objects. This one is on the side of the gear stick. It is held in place not by 2 white plastic bits as in the case of the other, but is held tight when you screw this whole section back in place (the green ball is held in place by some black plastic deep inside the chassis) In my case, this object wasn't damaged (as per the red highlighted circle). But in other's situations, this may need to be worked on too, if it doesn't sit tightly when screwed back in.
