Yet another ration pack crafting mod. I noticed there are more on the workshop, but for what I've seen they're either unbalanced or not easily automatable, so i made one from scratch.

Research requires two books and a "specimen" of ration pack, so your scientist can dissect it and study its ingredients. When this is done the recipe will pop up naturally in your regular cooking stove. Cooks will take dried meat and foodcubes directly from the food store and use them for crafting, so you don't need to build anything new, just research and it's done!

In total i made three changes:
- added research for the recipe, requires tech level 3 and advanced cooking;
- modified the food store so that cooks can actually take ingredients from them, this led to the third change;
- in the remote eventuality that you should assign a job to fill an animal feeder, whithout this last change your food store would empty completely, which is plain annoying. So i modified the feeder to only allow raw meat and foul raw meat, this way there will be no conflict even if you decide to automate the feeder.

For a clean version, meaning it won't conflict with mods altering the feeder and the store, click here.

This mod should NOT require import, but it will be conflicting with any mod that adds research for ration packs, any mod that modifies the recipe for ration packs, and any addon that alters the behaviour of the animal feeder or the food store. If many of you turn out to be unhappy with a feature I'll see what i can do, for now enjoy some non cheaty and fully automatable ration pack action!

in the description you can find a lite version that does not alter the feeder

Thanks for the mod! But, one thing... Can you please add version without animal feeder change? It's frustrating to get another mod to undo this or deal with low nutritious food with animal hunger multiplyer.

for some reason, the ration packs won't store in the food storage.

i have no quick and easy way to test this, but i reuploaded the mod (loaded, let the program do its thing, saved with the new parameters, and uploaded again), so now this should be compatible with any updates that came out until now. also, if anyone wants to take over this mod or any other i have published let me know, i don't really plan on spending any time on this anymore

Hey, I was wonder if y'all ever got around to testing that out. The thing with the shek people and looting your stove or not.

alright, it might be that somehow the mod is holding back some update features, i've had an issue on another mod where reuploading alone fixed everything. i'll do that when i wake up, once you see the version change test it again and we'll see if that works

Hmm this is very weird man, because considering all the testing I've done the mod is the only one causing it. As soon as I disable it, the Shek event is going smooth as silk in all same conditions.
Had to stick with foodcubes :(

try that maybe, just as a note this mod does no modification at all to character behaviour, nor to the stove, the recipe was already there, there was just no way to unlock it, and the crafting station did not need to be updated at all. if the issue came from the food store that would have made me suspicious, because i did edit that one, but the stove is vanilla. also can you confirm the link you sent is correct? i don't understand how that thread is relevant. (i had to split the comment because i overexplain and the text was to long to publish)

i'm sorry about that, but i can assure it's not an issue caused by my mod, or any mod at all. every raid that has a looting event will behave that way, the shek are only the most noticeable because they're the ones you acutally welcome in without trying to fight back, most of the time. i'm not sure what happens, but i know i've always seen that behaviour, even in fully vanilla, way before i started modding: they will enter the base, rush to any food container, if none of the containers have food in them they stay there waiting, it could take days before they give up and leave, but i think i remember that if you put a single piece of food in a container their behaviour gets updated and they leave quicker or even right away.

First of all - awesome mod. No idea why ration pack cannot be crafted in base game, it even has ingredients listed...
BUT it seems there is a bug with this mod.

This mod causes the Tribute from Shek Kingdom guys to get stuck by looting a cooking stove.
