One of Kousaki's earlier artworks and of my favorite Okita, I find myself coming back to this wallpaper every few months.

Okita is portrayed to be a cheerful and energetic person in FGO. However, looking at this piece it definitely invokes a very different emotion. To be sure, I have no idea if Kousaki intended this or not, but Okita's solemn expression on top of the cold color themes made me believe that this is not the Okita from Chaldea, but rather the Okita while she was alive and perhaps even during her final battle. The Okita cursed with a fatal disease but laser-focused on discharging her duties honorably as Shinshengumi First Captain.

In a way, I think Okita is the Japanese parallel of Artoria - blessed with immense talent, denied the chance of growing up as a normal girl, bravely took up an overbearing mantle of responsibility and ultimately died too young. Artoria though found her salvation when she finally accepts her own death and legacy, and ultimately found happiness in Avalon. As for Okita, I'd like to think she too found her salvation in death's peaceful embrace and ultimately happiness in Chaldea with her beloved Gudako.
