in my personal experience, the links are actually not the main issue like they are for others here. i found that there is a consistency to it, theres a certain way to place them for it to work. .75 like in disc. and the first must always lead to the next. you cant backtrack and build the chain backwards, but if you just dupe n drag and repeat, you should be good. also of course be mindful of the angles of links as they curve around gears because it can throw off the distance if its not either symmetrical, or made in a way that evens out to the original distance.

my issue is i dont understand how tight i should put the chain around gears. the links behave decently well conforming to different gear and seem to have some leniency with teeth size, but even just a little bit of slack in certain chains (like a timing chain) is kind of an issue.

good mod overall. first ones never gonna be perfect. more improvement to look forward to

collisions with other chain links are hit or miss, even if it should fit, it doesnt and causes much confusion when trying to set it up for tracks or a weapon or other machinery. it requires a lot of messing with to get 1 chain loops to work which is pain due to having to constantly reposition and rotate them and hoping it works. and i means more than half the chain has to be moved so you dont mess up the working ones then you en up messing up another and sometimes just break for no reason.

basically it's more work than play with this mod and im sad its a bit underwhelming as it has a lot of potential especially with the game's default medival theme. maybe if the pole collisions where smaller it'd be easier but thatd make it more loose than it already is. maybe a connector tool would help but its hard to say.

Is it meant to not work?

Works amazingly for me, however I cannot seem to be able to prevent it from spazzing out beyond a certain load (transmission purposes). From up a certain number of chainlinks the chain seems to be collapsing under its own load for which invincibility does not seem to help either. This may just be a problem with the game engine and downscaling blocks tho. Would there be a way to maybe introduce a friction/dampening coefficient on the links?

is it possible to connect a small gear and a big gear with this chain because I can't do it
