Caesarean Extravaganza

Beschreibung
Here's a little something I've thrown together after jumping on the Roman Models Extravaganza bandwagon. F*cking excellent modelling and texture work from the guys behind it. Consistently blown away.

I've used those assets to make the Caesarean Romans look a bit more like Caesarean Romans (with a little help from Kaziel's banging shield models of course).
I've tried to give each Roman unit have its own unique flair - crests and braccae for the veterans and feathers and greaves for the men of the First.

Point to note - legionary cavalry are no longer (appearance wise) legionary cavalry. The Roman Army was famously cavalry deficient prior to the Empire and during his wars in Gaul, Caesar relied on his Gallic allies to provide mounted support. With this in mind, legionary cavalry now resemble Gallic warriors equipped with Roman arms and armour, which I think is a fair representation.

It's a WIP and I'm open to suggestions. You need Roman Models Extravaganza downloaded and activated for this to work correctly.

Big thanks to Celticus, Hloeric, noniac, Benjin and of course the legenday Kaziel for keeping Rome 2 alive through their work.

Is there a DEI version of this? Or is it DEI compatible?

thank you for all this work you did, these are the best unit mods imo, all the extravaganza ones, thanks for the DeI port, you're a legend for this!

I tried this one out and I really love it. The shield patterns are really excellent, especially for Praetorians and Veterans.

Love the choice of the Legionary Cavalry being Gallic in appearance.

For the Auxiliary infantry, I was wondering if they could keep their Gallic appearance with Roman armor, but use something more Roman for a shield, like a green clipeus.

think the legionary cavalry unit is a reference to caesar's conflict with ariovistus, where he didn't trust his gallic cavalry enough so he mounted legionaries on horses to accompany him during negotiations

although they did fight with ariovistus' negotiating party i've got no clue if they (or others like them) fought in pitched battles, so i guess it's up to you whether they should be modelled in TW or not :P but i prefer your idea
