In-Depth Guide To Sniper:Weapons. ALL the Weapons
By Maika
This Guide will go over ALL weapons for the Australlian Sharpshoter The Sniper.Starting from Primary to Secondary then Melee. After that I will go over some sets that are good for the sniper.

Check out my Orignal Sniper guide which will tell you how to snipe Here

Some of you may notice that there is no huntsman in this guide. I am currently making a huntsman guide(although I am not as good with the huntsman compared to the sniper rifle)because of its complexity. It is a totaly different type of weapon that changes the way you snipe.

My Personal notes
At the bottom of most of the sections you will see Personal notes this is just a quick overview of what I think of the weapon and if I reccomend it to you. My opinion should not effect you if it affends you that I call a weapon bad please just skip that part. I don't want you to switch to a different weapon just because people call it "noob" it has its purpose in the game. Use it.
PRIMARIES
This is your Sniper/Bow you should always be having this out unless your using your Melee or Secondary for Self-Defense.
Sniper Rifle

The Stock Sniper Rifle not really much to talk about. It does 150 damage every headshot/crit thats not charged; and does 450 damage for every fully charged headshot you get. Deals 43-57 damage for every no-scope/bodyshot that isn't charged and for every fully charged bodyshot it deals 128-173.

Personal Note:
In my opinion the stock sniper rifle is the most reliable sniper rifle in the entire game. I can trust its bodyshot and headshot damage along with the no-scope. I prefer this over anyother sniper rifle in the game(I'm not saying that because thats the only strange sniper I have in my bp).

Video Demonstration

Machina
  • Full Charge: +15% damage per shot
  • Full Charge: Projectiles Penatrate Players
  • Cannot fire unzoomed
  • Fires Tracer Rounds

This gun is fairly Popular among snipers. Some people really like the design and the tracer rounds (which is suppose to be a flaw) which is why they use it. Newer snipers also like using it because it does a lot more damage when you bodyshot. The Machina is easier to use against bigger classes which would take a headshot and a bodyshot to kill only takes a fully charged bodyshot to kill.

Personal Note:
I think this sniper is very powerful and useful in certain situations unfortunally I am very bad at quickscoping using this weapon and hate that you can't no-scope. I think many of the newer players underestimate the power of the no-scope and should be used more often. Again This weapon may be your weapon of choice it just isn't mine.

Video Demonstration:

Bazaar Bargain
  • 20% slower base charge rate
  • Each scoped headshot will decrease the weapons charge time
  • Every scoped miss will result a decrease of the bonus

This weapon may confuse some of the newer players. It basically means you get more headshots the faster the charge will be. But if you miss a headshot it will become slower. This sniper is designed for headshots and only headshots. I don't reccomend this for the newer players since they might have trouble trying to headshot other players.
If your still confused on what I'm trying to say here is a video to demonstrate.

Personal Notes:
Again I don't reccomend using this sniper if your a newer sniper. I actually don't reccomend using this sniper at all. Honestly I need bodyshots. I am not perfect I can't headshot every person I come across. The Number showing you how much headshots you have makes it harder for me because I feel pressured. In my mind I'm thinking "ooooooh please don't miss please don't miss" I can't think about that while sniping.

Hitman's Heatmaker

  • Gain Focus on kills and assists
  • Focus activates on Fire when Focus meter is full
  • In Focus: +25% faster charge rate and no unscoping
  • -20% damage penalty on body shot

The Hitman's hitmaker is a sniper rifle that has some intereseting features to it. When you get kills or assists you gain focus. There is a meter at the bottom right and when you get a kill or assists the meter starts to full. When full you will be in focus. In focus your shots will chargte 25% faster and when you shoot you won't unzoom to reload(Note it says no unscoping but you still can unscope). The only downside is that bodyshots do significatly less damage.
Video Demonstration

Personal Note:
The hitman's heatmaker is overall a good weapon and us good for taking out the bigger class (Heavy, Soldier, etc)which would require a charged headshot to kill them. Although it is good for taking out big classes you might have trouble taking out the lighter, quicker classes(Scout,Medic, etc) which is easier to kill with a bodyshot.

The Sydney Sleeper

The sydney sleeper is used most of the time by the newer snipers who don't really know the hitboxes and have a hard time aiming for the head. The Sydney sleeper easily usable on all skill levels because of this headshot snipers think this gun is "noob" which I think is dumb because in which it has its many flaws. First of which is easy you can't headshot. I know people will be like "WELL THATS WHY ITS NOOB YOU NOOB" but if the newer players get lucky I bet they can land a headshot. We all start with that first lucky headshot that you can't belive you just got. After that hopefuly it snowballs into something big.

Personal Note:
Honestly I do think this sniper is a begginer type of weapon it has its many flaws in it, it self its not a bad thing to keep using this weapon but if you want to become one of the pro snipers(I would like to be proven wrong)the sydney sleeper is not the best weapon for you. It really screws up my aim if I go back and forth from this and the default sniper to me so I don't really plan using it anytime soon.

Video Demonstration
SECONDARIES
Secondarys are you backup weapon usually if they get to medium to close range you would use this where your sniper rifle can't do much.
Smg

The Smg is a the default Secondary for the sniper. It has a clip size of 25 and carries 75 extra ammo. It has a base damage of 8 and crits at 24. It is a Stock Weapon so it has no Negative or Positive Attribuites.

Personal note:
I don't really like the smg I would rather no-scope which does quite a lot of damage while your running away. The smg does the most damage up close but I think I would rather have my knife out to deal with the at close range.

Video Demonstration
The Cleaners Carbine
  • On Kill: 3 seconds of 100% critical chance
  • -20% clip size
  • 35% slower firing speed
  • No random critical hits

The Cleaners Carbine is like the smg except it has a smaller clip size it shoots a little slower and you can't get random crits. But if you kill an enemy you get guarenteed crits for 3 seconds.

Personal Note:
I never really used this weapon. But I think its best used up close so being a regular sniper isn't really ideal when using this weapon. Maybe for the huntsman which you should be at medium range near the other assualt classes. When using this I find it best when you sneak up on they enemy try and find a light class(Engi, Scout, Spy) and mow them down at close range then bust out your melee and try and kill as many people as you can with that 3 seconds of crits. Again I don't really use this weapon if I could get more information on it in the comments that would be great.

Video Demonstration:
Jarate

Jarate is basically a Jar of mini-crits(its urine but same thing). Its like Mad-Milk you throw it on enemies and they will turn all yellow and whatever you or your teammates do to the Jarated person they will take Mini-Crits which I believe is 150% more damage. It is also very good at revealing spies because you can see an Invis spy if you have Jarated the spy before he cloaked. A lot of snipers use the Jarate as their normal setup. Me, not so much.

Personal Note:
I believe Jarate is an Exellent as allternative to the smg in terms of pushing and self defense too. I usually have this on if I know that there isn't a really good spy on the other team. Although I don't use it I would reccomend a bushwacka with this weapon. I don't like the 20% extra fire damage since I get hit by the flare gun and run into pyros a lot. See Bushwacka in the Melee section for more information

Video Demonstration
Razorback

  • Blocks a single backstab attempt

The Razorback is a shield that blocks a single backstab. It breaks after that backstab and when it breaks you will unscoped if your scoped and it will make a loud electric sound. If your razorback breaks it is possible to get another in the resupply locker.

Personal note:
Personally the Razorback is my favorite secondary because I absolutely hate getting backstabed by a spy. It embarrasses me and I don't really look around for spies that much. I usually just concentrate on trying to get headshots and such. I reccomend using this if there is a good spy on the other team. If your planning on playing in a mix or something like that Jarate is a better choice. But in pubs it might be different because there could be 3 spies on the other team.

Video Demonstration
Darwin's Danger Shield

  • +25 max health on wearer
  • +15% bullet damage resistance on wearer
  • 20% explosive damage vulnerability on wearer

The darwin's Danger shield is a replacement for the smg and give you an extra 25 hp.

Personal note:
I find that this is not a useful item because I would rather have Jarate or Razorback on than 25 hp.

Video Demonstration
The Cozy Camper
  • 1 health regenerated per second on wearer
  • No flinching when aiming
  • Knockback reduced by 20% when aiming
  • Damage taken increased by 20%

The cozy camper. The name is basically its whole meaning. Your suppose to be constantly zoomed in, in a safe position and just camp. You regenerate 1hp per second. You don't flinch when you aim(your crosshair won't jump when damaged) and knockback reduced by 20% when aiming. But you take 20% more damage.

Personal note:
The new update has changed this weapon. I do not have any opinions on it atm.
MELEE
Your Melee weapon is your only means of self-defense when your up close and personal to your enemy if a scout comes charging at you don't be afraid to hide behind a corner and suprise him with your knife. You will be amazed by the amounts of crits you could get with this.
Kurkri

The Kukri is the Default knife for the sniper it does 55-75 damage and it crits at 195. It is the Default knife for the sniper so it has no negative or positive attributes.

Personal note:
I use this as my main melee weapon. Personally I think all the melee weapons for sniper are good it just all comes down to preferance. The only reason I use it is because its strange

Video Demonstration:
Bushwacka

  • Crits Whenever its normally a mini-crits
  • Take 20% more fire Damage

The bushwacka is a weapon that usually used with Jarate because it crits whenever it should be a mini-crit. In if its a mini-crit it counts as a crit. In addition to this you take an extra 20% fire damage. Which souldn't be a problem since you have Jarate to put the fire out if you kill the pyro. See Jarate

Personal note:
The Bushwacka is an exellent weapon when combined with Jarate but I don't like that you take an extra 20% fire damage. Fire already annoys the living hell out of me. I really don't want to add even more fire damage.

Video Demonstration
Tribalman's Shiv

  • On Hit: Bleed for 6 seconds
  • -50% damage penalty

The Tribalman's shiv is a great weapon for taking out the light to medium classes because of its Bleed for 6 seconds. You might have trouble taking out the bigger classes because of its 50% damage penalty. I feel that this weapon is great for spy checking because you can see invis spies while they're bleeding.

Personal Note:
I used to use this weapon a lot but after it got nerfed to 50% damage reduction (used to be 25% I believe I forgot) it has lost its power. I like the weapon it is very annoying if your a spy or a scout but I usually like to try and shank the soldiers and demomen a lot and I struggle to kill them. Its still a good weapon it will help you in certain situations

Video Demonstration

The Shahanshah

  • +25% increase in damage when health <50% of max
  • -25% decrease in damage when health >50% of max

The Shahanshah is a melee weapon which is efficient at taking out enemies when you have less than than half hp, because you will do 25% more damage. When you have more than 50% hp you will do 25% less damage. If you have a nametag and you would use this a lot I would name it "The last stand" because basaically this is your on your last leg to survive. This weapon is best used when you have taken damage from a demo or soldier then try and go for the kill.

Personal note:
The Shahanshah is a fairly decent weapon(and hard to spell) I don't really reccomend this if your camping because you usually have more than 50% hp. But if you going for example huntsman sniper this could be a good because you will take damage when your a huntsman sniper. I don't use this weapon but this may be a viable choice for you.

Video Demonstration:
SETS
Sets are the combination of weapons that you will use as sniper. I will show you some popular sniper sets and my personal sets
Have a good set that you would like to add?
I don't know every set in this game so if you can think if a good combonation/set please tell me. If you think you have an exellent set that you would like to add in this guide send me an email telling me why you think its a good set and I might just add it in this guide.

Email:micahakamine@ymail.com
Stock/Default Setup
First of all lets start with the Sniper's default loadout::

The Sniper Rifle

My Setup
This is my Default Setup which I just about use all the time. It consists of:

The Sniper Rifle

The Razorback

And the Kukri

I prefer this set because I abosolutly hate and I mean hate getting backstabed by spies to me its embarrasing and very annoying. In terms of self-defense I usually no-scope the enemy mid range if they're jumping and if they get to close I just bust out my Kukri and hopefully get a lucky crit. Which I really get a lot. Really it makes me laugh how a scout gets me down to 10 hp then I get 1 lucky crit on him and he dies. I have a Strange Kukri and I have to be honest with you more than half of those kills probably are crit kills. If your not in a no-crit server do not underestimate your Kukri.
Jarate +Bushwacka
This is not really a set but more of a combination of the

Bushwacka

and Jarate

You can use any type of sniper for this it doens't matter. See Bushwacka and Jaratefor more information
My Jarate Set
This set consists of
The Default Sniper Rifle

Jarate

And The Kukri

Some people may ask "Why not the Bushwacka". Well thats a good question the bushwacka is indeed a very good combonation with Jarate but most of the servers I play on(cp_foundry,cp_dustbowl)have a lot of w+m1 pyros which I don't have a problem with. But remember the bushwacka gives you an extra 20% fire damage and I don't feel comfortable playing with that.

Camping Sniper
This consists of either the Machina
or Sydney Sleeper

Razorback

And the Tribalman's shiv

With this Set you are usually going to be scoped in and trying to aim for Killing the big guys or supporting your team(depending on wheter you have the machina or The Sleeper). I reccomend having a Razorback just for a little extra spy protection and a Tribalman's Shiv for spy checking.

I've never been able to stop a spy like that before nor have I had a sniper be able to stop me in that situation. I'll take your word, but I'll believe it when I see.
Maika  [author] Jul 19, 2013 @ 5:45pm
I have gotton spies with the ambassador before but you'd be amazed how many noob spies would just ignore you if you have a razor back on
kshrubb Jul 19, 2013 @ 3:18pm
Its definitely not possible if they are using the ambassador like all spies should seeing as it's the best weapon.
Maika  [author] Jul 19, 2013 @ 2:42pm
Karatepig123 That is true but sometimes if your quick enough you can turn around and quick scope the spy when he shoots you. Its hard to do but when you do it, it makes the spy look like a complete dumbass
kshrubb Jul 19, 2013 @ 2:29pm
Razorback, making the difference between being killed by a revolver and being backstabbed by a spy.
