UPDATE: October 22th, 2020

Hello everyone,

i just updated the mod with added Borg faction for one small test map and bunch of other changes, most notably:

- proper tech-tree for Federation and Borg factions
- some sprite effects, like for explosions for Fed and Borg units, then effects like Borg transwarp, Klingon Bloodlust, Federation Support Teams, etc...
- changed the way the Peregrine Fighters work for Akira class...
- added voiceover for Federation units
- reworked the mods "structure", something you dont see by playing it, but i done it for optimization purposes, like for example i had photon torpedo sprite in every unit folder, now its there only once, in separate folder and all the unit ini files reference it in there.... it was quite a lot of annoying work!

The Borg can assimilate enemy units, take down their shields, self-regenerate hull damage and teleport themselves (diamond class) or build the transwarp gate to do the same for the other units.

The mod is still bigger in size though, because of the effect animations i added (explosions,transwarp), so i hope it wont break the game for you, it works on me on PC, if you somehow play this on mobile, no guarantees, i dont have Android device to test.

No balance as usual, sorry. Especially Borg are probably OP as hell, since they have lot of HP and shields on top of comparable weaponry to other races. The cube is destructible, though, when i played against AI, it managed to destroy it by concentrating fire on it, despite the cube´s massive firepower.

UPDATE: April 14th, 2020

Borg are on their way. Resistance is futile. See newly attached techtree. Not playable yet, but hopefully soon.

Additionally, i decided to increase the number of factions i intended to make - originally i wanted to make only 6, but recently have been thinking i could add Alternate Federation faction and Romulan Free State as well - to fit all those additional ships from the shows, which could not make the unit rosters of my current Federation/Romulan factions - like three-nacelled Galaxy class, Sabre class, armored Intrepid, Scimitar or those new designs from Picard....

We shall see. They are still some time away, its lot of additional work to do.



UPDATE: April 8th, 2020

Fellow Subscribers and Trekkies,

just wanted to let you know, that i finally updated the mod again, replacing the old small map with bigger one, which lets you play as Romulan faction as well.

For that to happen, you gotta run the map not from the Mods sub-menu, but via Custom Maps, the map name is Argolis Cluster. Then you have to press Advanced Settings button and choose your team number to be 4. Federation is 1, Klingons are 2 and Cardassians are 3.

Aside of that i revamped the previous small map into simple battle against Borg cube - you can play as Federation only, build up your forces and then attack the Cube, which is hiding somewhere on the map. Its just simple thing to recreate the battle from First Contact movie.

Final thing, despite previous promises, i was still unable to do the balancing, so things are still randomly cheap/expensive/weak/strong.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Everyone!

Just wanted to give heads-up to anyone interested, at last during this Christmas period i found some space and will to work further on my mod and i am close to adding fourth faction: Romulans!

See attached new screenshot.

Alongside this faction, there will be new bigger map with 4 factions, just need to solve some issues with team spawning. Additionally, at last, i intend to implement the balancing i promised.

Dear Subscribers,

As promised recently in the comments section, i found a way to create the maps without the need for external files - or better said, i have been shown how (thanks to MP97!!!)

Today i uploaded new version of mod, included with a small 3 player map, Federation, Klingons and Cardassians. Actually it is 3 versions of the same map, each one lets you to play for one of the faction. as i dont know how to make choose faction ingame yet - its kind of complicated with teams and starting points and whatnot and i dont understand how it works yet... so for the moment, i solved it this way.

You should see a button View maps ingame next to the mod itself, from where you can start the map you want, or alternatively i guess it works via Custom maps part of menu.

As usual, its not balanced, Federation are the closest to be, so i recommend to play them on lower difficulty or as to challenge yourself, if you are great at the game, i am not. LOL... Cardassians are opposite, sort of easy mod for the moment.

As i said, its a small map, more or less proof of a concept i can do it, so please let me know in the comments, whether it works for you and if not, what is the problem. If it turns out to be functional, i will try to create bigger map, additionally with some NPC units, balance the factions properly (already have some excel sheets made, just need to apply them to the game data) and then add unit sounds and finally Romulan faction.

The other thing, I am sad to inform you, for the moment nothing new from my side is imminent. For one moment i wanted to try something else, as i said back then, and did some work in there, see here:

but never made that public, as it was unfinished. Instead wanted to return to work on this, Star Trek, and rework some mechanics i learned while working on the other thing - like for example making planets actual capturable "units", instead of pieces of different terrain, as it is now. Or wormholes. I wanted to add the second Federation faction and Dominion faction - i had some nice ideas, how to make them special, and even most of the sprite work prepared for that. But did not get to work on it any further since then, unfortunately.

Hi there, thanks for your kind words.
IIRC the factions had preset starting positions on the map, so what factions you would play depended on starting point you would choose. I think on the big map you could choose Federation, Klingons, Romulans and Cardassian this way, and then there was smaller testing map with Feds, Borg and Romulans?

To be fair, i was not working on that for some quite time, so details are bit hazy right now.

Love the mod, great sprite work here. Perhaps I am dumb, is there a 'faction selector' to choose in launch options (AI compatible)? I realize you iced this for some time, any progress on your other project? I am intrigued to see what you come up with and want more of your sprite design work!
