A Spoiler-Free Guide to Undertale

Introduction

This guide is meant to serve as a way for new players to experience the best that Undertale has to offer, without spoiling anything. That being said, this guide will probably be pretty vague about most of the game, so be prepared to be confused. If you want a real walkthrough, don't look it up, it ruins the fun. However, for those willing to play one of the greatest games of all time the best way possible, buckle up. (Seriously, if you don't have a seatbelt on your chair, you should get one.)

Basic Gameplay Tips

To start off, here are some general concepts that will probably make your Undertale experience better.

• Starting up the game lets you play the game
  
• Hitting f4 will put the game in fullscreen (Just don't hit it too hard or you may break your f4 key)
  
• I would reccomend naming the kid after yourself.
  
• Check every enemy
  
• Explore everywhere, secrets are waiting to be discovered.
  
• Talk to everybody, multiple times if you can.
  
• Pay attention, it helps with everything from puzzles to fights to immersion.
  
• You can change your fate if you want to.
  
• Lastly, the game knows. The game knows what you did, and some of the characters do as well.

Ruins

• Listen to the nice flower
  
• Be sure to pay attention to things on the walls
  
• Talk to it, you dummy
  
• Calling people can lead to some laughs
  
• Frogs give really good advice
  
• Candy is tasty
  
• I would buy something from the spiders, but don't eat it... yet
  
• The third frog gives REALLY good advice
  
• Sleep when you get the chance
  
• I wouldn't eat that pie... yet.
  
• Sometimes you need to repeat yourself to be heard, especially when the other person is a stubborn old goat (Thanks to Haywire MK1 for that)

Snowdin

• Boxes are really useful
  
• Pet, pet, pet, pet, pet, pet, pet, pet, until you can pet no more
  
• Make friends, it's good for you
  
• Talk to Mr Skeleton whenever you see him
  
• The snowman doesn't like the box
  
• Snow poffs are apparently rich
  
• Turn around after the scene on the bridge, you might see a glimpse of someone familiar.
  
• Flirting will get a lot farther than you'd think
  
• Call him whenever you can

Waterfall

• A meal is pretty nice when you have a friend
  
• After your meal, talk to a flower
  
• Two secrets with waterfalls
  
• I would change your gear after you nearly are spotted
  
• After Mr. skeleton calls you the second time, go back to see someone familiar again
  
• Sing along
  
• Give a stone an umbrella
  
• Lying with a ghost really changes your perspective
  
• After lighting the final mushroom, go back down
  
• Heroes never back down
  
• ...Except when they need to run

Hotland

• I don't think being hot is good for a fish
  
• Y'know, I wonder who owns that fish house anyway
  
• Call 'em often
  
• Pay attention to the lizard
  
• Hot dogs, hot dogs, yummy yummy yummy
  
• Y'know, I wonder if spiders like it when you eat spider products
  
• After the coloured tiles return, turn around to see a familiar face.
  
• The key is for a locked home
  
• Lunch with a friend is nice
  
• Strike a pose! It gets you ratings
  
• After the truth comes out, get a hotel room
  
• Your friend will talk, reload the save a couple of times to get something... odd
  
• Before you get to meet your fate, check out the path to the right
  
• You'll need a pie and a lot of determination.
  
• It's the only fighting you have to do
  
• Never. Give. Up.

The End

Now, here. This is where it gets interesting.

Have you killed anyone or anything?

If not, then continue on.

If you have, you need to do a new playthrough. Don't be mad, it's worth it. This time, don't kill ANYTHING. Have fun.
