So first of all, go to this website:

You will see many many different versions like Lingor, Breaking Point or Vanilla DayZ 1.7.7.1 etc.

Installing DayZ SP - Example: Breaking Point by Above

Breaking Point SP is one of my favorite DayZ SP Versions (beside DayZ Napf SP), so this is what I am going to show you now!

Step 1: Go to the Breaking Point SP Thread / Post / whatever[kodabar-dayz-daizy-single-player-forum.1084782.n5.nabble.com]


Step 2: Download "BreakingPointSP" and the latest Update:











How to install BreakingPoint SP:











What you have to do:

1. Move "@BreakingPointSP" to your ArmA 2 OA Main directory











2. Move the addons from the Update 1.9 to the "@BreakingPointSP" addons folder










3. Make a shortcut from the latest Beta Patch (I always copy it to my desktop - see the screenshot - and then rename it to what SP mod it is; in this case "DayZ Breaking Point SP")






4. Right-click on the Beta Patch shortcut and select "properties"








You'll see this window - in the target line go to the end and write "-mod=@BreakingPointSP"

Simply click on "OK" and double-click on the Beta Patch!

Breaking Point SP

When your game started, simply click on Singleplayer











Then select Scenarios and then start "BreakingPointSP.chernarus"













When the mission is loaded...











Have fun!!

Errors

Errors about missing content (for example ".chernarus") can be fixed by moving your AddOns folder from ArmA 2 to you ArmA 2 OA main folder !

Hey there, thanks for the comment! :)

As you can see, I made this guide in 2013 (which is insane to think about, I was literally a kid back then lol) - I haven't played Arma 2 in years and the DaiZy forums have been dead for a while, so I'm sure there's other methods nowadays.

I don't even know why Steam keeps showing this guide to people but I have updated the title to show it's depreciated.

you dont need a mod to play dayz in singleplayer.

from the main menu: there is a hotkey combination that can be pressed which allows one to edit the mission on the map before starting a single player game.

all i remember is that the hotkey included shift.

i miss dayz commander as it listed so many rare mods that no record seems to exist of them otherwise. many of these had their assets stolen and put into vanilla mod with no credit.. with ARMAHOLIC disappearing and everything else being covered up as well, im worried i'll never get to experience things like Lingor and other maps with all the long lost immersive mods..

if anyone has a dayz mod archive i would be super interested and might be willing to make it worth your while.

Update on dayz commander in case people are unaware the launcher is dead use the dayz launcher works almost the same way.

Still works in 2018, most say DayZ Commander but you can use the DayZ Mod on Steam to install the desired version via the beta menu under properties. Also some of the mod packages cannot work anymore due to the fact there are no other places to download them and the only place was a media fire or a rapidshare link that has been discontinued.
