Isaac: Four Souls - Minimal Table Setup [4 Players]

In 1 collection by how do shoot gun?
Tables for The Binding of Isaac: Four Souls
4 items
Description
Like a colourful table?
This is a very straightforward table made from scratch so that it can be reworked to fit varying amounts of players, without stretching/compressing the normal table texture and ruining it.

This is the 4-player version. It's here for consistency and personal use; you can run it along with the other versions, but any other table works just as well for this amount of players. Here are the other tables available:

QoL Improvements

  • A bag with all 19 characters and their eternal items, stacked on top of one another. The individual bags have descriptions which dictate what each character does, followed by some tips.

  • Scripted setup which lets you skip dealing characters, eternal items, and loot cards, as well as placing monsters and shop items after shuffling the deck. Happenings are ensured not to appear on the initial draw.

  • The entire Four Souls Plus expansion, as spoiled online pre-release. The new cards were ripped courtesy of jerb, so check out his fantastic table! You may even like it more.

  • As an option when the game begins, there are four expansions: Awkward-Fiend's Sewer Expansion, Sanio's meme decks, AkiOS' ALT expansion, and Ezim's WIP Unknown Depths collection.

  • A set of chat commands that can either broadcast to the whole table (by starting with !) or be private to any user (by starting with .). Functionality ranges from !THESTACK, which explains what the stack is in detail, to !BLANKCARD, which will tell you exactly what Blank Card does to a given loot card (e.g. !blankcard twoofdiamonds). Let me know if you think of an info command worth adding!

  • Relevant cards have names, so that searching for Guppy items or The Bloat is a lot simpler and faster.

  • Several cards out-of-date elsewhere are up-to-date with the print version in this mod. See the changelog for the full list.

  • A trashcan. This is from the original mod.

  • An infinite bag of these wonderful counters here.

  • The same counters being used for $$$.

  • Two player mats with twelve slots for items, six for hearts, one for the character card, one for the eternal item, two for currently-active bonuses or maluses (like curses, pills, etc), and four for souls.

Credit to the original mod for the monster HP script and for ripping the cards from http://foursoulsspoilers.com/ . This is just as unofficial as that one is.

Changelog
  • 2018-11-12: Added scripted table setup: Randomize bag to deal player characters, delete note to set down the four active cards as well as the natural 3 loot.
  • 2018-11-12: The monster dice script zones are now much narrower, making it harder for it to mistakenly set the wrong one. Additionally, the dice no longer update unless the card has been turned over.

  • 2018-12-27: All cards that were changed between the last spoiler release and the print edition of the game (Champion's Belt, Greed's Gullet, More Options, Suicide King, There's Options, The Shovel, Cod Worm, Cursed Chest, Curse of Loss, Parabite, and We Need to Go Deeper!) have been updated so long as the change isn't purely aesthetic.
  • 2018-12-27: The following cards have recieved names in order to make searching the decks easier: The Bloat, Guppy's Head, Guppy's Collar, Guppy's Paw, Guppy's Tail, and The Dead Cat.
  • 2018-12-27: Card Counters have been added to each player so tracking Soul of Gluttony is less difficult.

  • 2018-12-31: Rotated the Green and Brown card counters so that they face those players instead of the aether.

  • 2019-01-03: Added Sewer Expansion, Sanio's meme deck and three official spoiled Four Souls Plus cards so they can be added to a given game.

  • 2019-01-12: Four more cards from early Four Souls Plus spoilers (Rubber Cement, Magnet, Monstro II, and Angel Deal) have been added to the table.
  • 2019-01-12: At long last, the battle is finally over. Brown's personal die is now more brown-coloured than orange.

  • 2019-01-15: Imported all spoiled Four Souls Plus cards, courtesy of jerb's scraper.
  • 2019-01-15: Added "as Red" to the setup note and character bag description.
  • 2019-01-15: Added Guppy's Eye as a searchable Guppy item.
  • 2019-01-15: Deleted the beta 4s+ bag.

  • 2019-01-20: Added AkiOS' ALT. expansion as an option.

  • 2019-01-20 but later in the day: Added Ezim's WIP expansion.

  • 2019-01-21: Added an entire parser for chat commands. It accepts commands starting with "!" to broadcast to everyone, and commands starting with "." to self-whisper. The available commands are: !thestack, !blankcard, !expansions, and !help.

  • 2019-01-22: Added the two cards mistakenly excluded from the original Four Souls+ spoiler (Divorce Papers and Libra). In addition, ♥♥♥♥♥ of Babylon's Gimpy has been buffed to its current state (+1 DMG => +2 DMG til the end of turn, +1 cent => +2 cents).

  • 2019-01-24: Added HP to the Four Souls Plus monsters. Let me know if I missed any!
  • 2019-01-24: Added a snap point to the monster deck so that if you draw the entire thing while playing it, there isn't panic and dismay.
  • 2019-01-24: Added one new chat function: !pick. It accepts one argument ('others'). It picks a player at random, for effects such as Monstro's Tooth that don't use a manipulable dice roll.

  • 2019-01-24: IMPORTANT UPDATE: ROLLED BACK TO 2019-01-22. Scripts were somehow corrupted between all four versions of the game. I have no idea what happened, considering I tested the setup of every version of the game before uploading, and they worked...

  • 2019-03-03: Updated AkiOS' ALT. Expansion to its most recent version, including a cool new box to set it apart!
  • 2019-03-03:Updated Ezim's Unknown Depths collection to its most recent version, including a cool new box to... to set... sorry, Ezim.

@yax2bxc I know its not a really important thing... i mostly did it for my own OCD and because it looks nicer and for the really bad wording ED did on the cards it lets people know what he REALLY means by the cards... his wording isnt the best... still a amazing game though.

IMPORTANT: Make sure your game is up to date! There was a very strange bug that made all four versions of the mod unplayable, so I rolled back two days. If it's not working, make sure it's the most recent version!

@Luca94 That's a pretty old bug. I can fix it once I figure out this issue

@Feanux I've rolled back the game due to a different bug, so !random no longer exists. I think I've found the problem with the randomness algorithm, but keep in mind that the game-start randomization is the same thing and has the same issues, so determine who goes first the old-fashioned way for now!

@StormKitten Holyhell that's a lot of tedius work I haven't gotten around to yet. Honestly, I don't reaaallly see the point of names on things that aren't Guppy items or The Bloat--- seems like a waste of time if ya don't need to search for 'em...

Casually named and put a description into EVERY LAST CARD AND CHARACTER for the non-fan made expansion cards... do not ask me why, i just did... lol

!Random doesn't work.

3 players in the game, spamming this gives me the same thing.

nah, your version is the best. ^^

Thanks for the answers. I have a question: When I add new monsters in the extra spaces this dice always changes. it's a script bug?

https://steamcommunity.com/id/Luca94b/screenshots/

Each time you put a monster card in the 3 extra spaces you have to manually correct the die

2) No; the bank should have infinite money. That's an answer based in the physical game and, regardless, they have sold extra coins for play. They just don't want you to have to scrounge for extra plastic things to use as money, so that's their answer. TTS has no such problem, funnily enough! If you like the textility of coins, you can spawn them in yourself and save locally.

3) No; I personally think that's annoying, and I refuse to steal his work besides. Plus, the lag issue as with 1.2 (anywhere from eight to forty tokens). You can flip the hearts to indicate they're gone, or toss them off their slots and put them back when you heal--- they have snap points to make this easier.

If you like any of these intentional choices made differently, you can play the other you linked (though I'm not sure what his update status is on the cards changed in the print version). :D

Sorry. In short, my answers are:
1) No.
1.2) No.
2) No.
3) No.

To be more specific:
1) No; using dice over counters was an intentional choice of preference. The HP can only range from 1 to 8 anyway, and the dice can be easily set by using the numline while hovering. This is preferable to the default counters with their tiiiny buttons, and to the better counters cause you can set them from 1 to 8 in one button. This'll probably end up having to change if a card with >8HP is released, though...

1.2) No; each monster HP counter needs its own scripting zone, and adding too many scripting zones could clog up the system and contribute to lag. When you have an irregularly high amount of monsters, it's recommended to just copy-paste the d8 and keep track manually. I might add a button to reset monster HP a la Jerb's mod, because that only makes a load when it's clicked.
