Novgorod monitor ship

Novgorod was a new monitor ironclad intended to protect the black sea. She was build in saint peterburg shipyard from 1871 and finished in 1874. The idea of circular battleship come from John elder scottish shipbuilder. This concept inlude the flat-bottom so she can reach the more battlefront like river and also spread the displacement. Novgorod only service record is from the russo-turkish war stationed at odessa. Circular design also has flaw, cicular design have a problem with stability and only perform well in calm sea.she was only one ship that feature this desisn. russian navy scrapped in 1911 and continue with traditional design ship.
