1. Disable frame smoothing as it looks like it causes problem with several mods.
2. Make a back up of your character pool folder (..\Documents\my games\XCOM2 War of the Chosen\XComGame\CharacterPool\)
3. Delete your user config folder (..\Documents\my games\XCOM2 War of the Chosen\XComGame\Config\)
4. Start the game with AML (before running the game go File> Save Settings in the AML)
5. Run the game
6. Exit Game
7. Replace your Character Pool folder by the back up one
8. Start the game again (should run fine from this point)
The reason for backing up and restoring the character pool folder is so you don't loose your characters customization.
This procedure brought back to work mods like Don't Unequip, Cost Based Ability Color, Color Coded Bonds and Customization Camera Control.
A redscreen error? What does it say? You shouldn't see those when playing normally via the Firaxis launcher. If you're using the Community Mod Launcher (and you should) add "-noredscreens" as a commandline argument
