Flying Elephant Design A - British Shellproof Tank

Deskripsi
Background

This super heavy tank was invented during the later years of the First World War. The William Foster & Co company based in Britain proposed a few ideas for a heavily armoured vehicle that could survive being attacked by artillery, heavy explosives and quick-firing weapons.

This design, the Flying Elephant Design A, was the third proposal in the project (preceding Design B). Compared to its predecessor, Design A was much larger, but had thinner armour and no defensive armament whatsoever. Mounted to the front of the vehicle was a large, sharply angled plate of armour which may have been intended to aid with deflecting shots fired at the front of the vehicle.

Design A was slightly larger than its successor, (one aim of the project was to make the tank compact) and it ultimately was estimated to weigh 100 tonnes and have a speed of 2mph (this is increased slightly in-game as the AI will abandon vehicles that are too slow and/or become stuck). The tank was driven by dual 105-horsepower Daimler engines. This gave the tank a power-to-weight ratio of roughly 0.001 hp/lb.

Features
  • Thirteen-pounder (75mm) gun as the main armament.
  • The tank explodes instantly upon death, rather than having a burn timer.
  • Some custom sounds (none made by me - credit goes to their respective authors).
  • Two variants, one where the cannon is operated by a seperate gunner, rather than the driver; another where the driver instead is able to shoot and see from the cannon.

Known Issues
  • Like Design B, AI drivers may drive backwards depending on how the map's pathfinding is set up.
  • AIs may sometimes leave the tank as soon as they enter, or just ignore it entirely at times.
  • The tank may fling itself across the map if you exit while turning.

UPDATED: Added armed passenger seats so you and/or your squad can ride on the front and back areas of the vehicle. Let me know if anything is broken. I have also removed the gunner version since I think nobody likes it anyway.

@Xeredek I’m really glad you think that way man, I didn’t think my stuff would be as well recieved at first and I’m extremely grateful that it is. And of course, I will release an update in good time with an extra few seats on the rear for a few armed passengers.

You've been doing some really rad work man.
If you're cool with it, I'd recommend letting allies ride on the tanks back plate over the treads- a bit like on that one Project altirus tank if you're familiar. I'd understand if you didn't want to- since it's based off of an actual purposed design, but if you're willing it would be just about the coolest thing since super sliced bread.

Anyway love your stuff dude, one of the best creators on the workshop if ye ask me

tres marrant mais pas du tout pratique en combat :steamsad:

@MYSELF I see, the only other issue is if other people are okay with it. If thats the case though, I will add it in.

I don't really mind the flashing. If anything, it adds more feeling to WW1 battles.

@MYSELF Like Design B, where you could see through the holes? If so, it would require changing the clipping size of the cameras which means you would get that flashing bug that happens with Design B - if people don’t mind the flashing, or I find a way around it, I will gladly implement.

And thanks, glad you liked it - more vehicles are coming soon. :)

I think it would be cool if somebody could make it so when manning machine guns/cannons, you would see from inside the tank instead of the crosshair overlay/above the turret.

Great mod otherwise.
