Opis
This mod aims to expand on the current sets of materials in rimworld, adding a range of new resources and research that range from basic masonry construction materaisl to plastic textiles such as kevlar.

If you wish to use the materials for flooring I suggest using stuffed floors: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=853043503&searchtext=stuffed

Overall the mods adds:
  • 4 Types of construction plastic
    - Mixed Plastic
    - Acrylic
    - UHMW (Ultra-High Molecular Weight) Plastic
  • Plastic Laminated Wood
  • 4 Types of Plastic Textiles
    - Polyester
    - Nylon
    - Kevlar
    - Acrylic Wool
  • 5 types of masonry materials
    - Clay Brick
    - Adobe
    - Concrete
    - Reinforced Concrete
    - Plaster
  • 3 Types of Glass
    - Basic Glass
    - Reinforced Glass
    - Crystal Glass
  • 2 New Fuels
    - Coal / Charcoal
    - Coke Coal

\------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------/

All masonry, coal and glasswork materials are made at the fuelled or electric kiln, however some recipes are specific to just the electric kiln

All plastic materials are made at the chemical refinery (Originally called the bio-fuel reinfery)
Plastic textiles such as kevlar are originally made at the chemical refinery but will need further refining at a tailoring workbench to be usable for clothing.

Mud can be aquired from mud digging spots, which can only be placed on mud / marsh tiles

Sand can be aquired from crushing stone chunks or placing a sand digging spot on sand tiles

Clay can be aquired from a new rock type called "shale" at the stonecutters table, it can also be found naturally or dug up from a mud digging spot - albeit a lot slower.

Fuels:

Coal:
Coal can be used to refuel all objects that would normally use wood as fuel, coal can be found naturally in rock formations or made artifically with the charcoal research.

Artifically creating charcoal produces 150% as much fuel compared to just using wood, producing 15 charcoal from 10 wood.

Coke Coal:
Coke coal is a much more refined form of coal, made almost entirely from carbon, with little to no impurities present. Coke coal cannot be found naturally and can only be man-made.

However - much like with charcoal production, coke coal production gives 150% of the input amounts. Requiring 15 coal to make 20 coke coal.

/------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------\

Plastics

All plastics can be made at the chemical refinery (The new bio-fuel refinery) from crude oil / bio oil.
Crude oil can be extracted from oil shale (A dark green rock) and bio oil can be refined from algae.

Oil shale is not renewable however, as once there is none left on the map there is no other way to aquire it without moving location.

Mixed Plastic

Mixed Plastic is the simpliest form of solid plastic the colony can make. It is very weak and quite flammable but also very light, cheap and easy to use.

UHMW Plastic

A Very strong advanced plastic that is less flammable and can hold a sharp point well. Useful for armour, strong constructions or basic weapons.

Acrylic

Acrylic is a transparent plastic that can be used to make quite pretty furniture due to it's similar appearance to highly refractive glass, however it is not much different than mixed plastic in any other way.

Plastic Textiles:

Polyester

A windproof, waterproof synthetic material that can keep a person warm when needed. Useful for basic insulative clothing.

Acrylic Wool

Acrylic that has been spun into tiny threads, very insulative due to it's air trapping nature that is very similar to that of real wool that is also waterproof and windproof too. Best for extremely insulative clothing.

Nylon

Tough nylon sheets that have a slight stab resistant property to them when layered correctly, this makes them useful for damage resistant clothing.

Kevlar

Extremely tough kevlar sheeting that has a very high tensile strength, making clothing made from it able to withstand stabbings and possibly gunfire with minimal to no damage on the wearer.

/------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------\

Glass

Basic Glass

Basic glass made purely from sand. Transparent and quite pretty, the most basic form of the 3 glass types.

Crystal Glass

Glass that has been given a highly refractive interior, causing the appearance of this glass to be similar to that of a gemstone. High beauty but also high cost.

Reinforced Glass

Reinforced panes of glass made by layering a plasteel fibre mesh between two normal sheets of glass. This resulting composite increases the materials overall strength twofold.

It would be ideal if such a patch I describe in my previous post would also work with Expanded Materials - Metals to make the ultimate resources overhaul.

On top of what Eqz said, I'd like to add that if some CHAMPION of a person could make an additional patch to this that would integrate it closely with Rimefeller, it would be a HUGE, HUGE boost to the gameplay if you could make the materials compatible, and use this mod's methods of producing it more of a mid-early step before you get Rimefeller operations up and running, while also patching Rimefeller to be able to refine chemfuel into the plastics provided by this mod.

I made an unnofficial update of this mod, until Atlas either updates his mod or tells me to take it down: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2780438599

Please update this and fix the minor issues Eqz brought up..

I tried making Greenhouse with your glass it acted like a regular wall and it said they all had Darkness just to check if it was working

Interesting materials mod, but there are some things.
Several people mentioned ruins made entirely of mudbrick, which is annoying and not so realistic, because stone ruins would last a while, while made of mudbrick wouldn't. This is actually base game issue, what I know now is changing mudbrick price from 0.05 per unit to 0.90 per unit like stone block has fixes the ruins.
Mod is mostly CE compatible, which is big YAY. But some stats for single plank of laminated wood picked as weapon are missing, that causes error messages. Quite easy to patch, fixed locally.
Very odd thing is materials have beauty multipliers, but not have beauty offsets. Especially glass, which has unique mechanics for walls, yet walls have 0 beauty and multipliers do not change that 0. This is quite unlike both vanilla and other modded materials, which most often if not always have both beauty multiplier and offset if they are "beautiful".

Would be cool if you can disable in the Mod Manager the Materials you dont want, because you already have them :)
