I admit I got a bit overexcited when i first started writing down everything I found (even noting down merchant dump items and stacks of 4GP). However a lot of the non-masterwork weapons are only listed either in the prologue or very early in Chapter 1, the reason being to help people who're looking for a specific weapon for their builds.
I also stopped listing sell-able artifacts later on.
I kept masterwork weapons listed through Chapter 1 because at that point in the game they may still be useful.
In any case, the point is to be able to Search for specific items you're looking for.
And items aren't randomly generated, they're static :)
