I did the whole "save to file" thing, but none of the resources are showing up.

one samplemap, no tiles, a few cheap looking character images that don't even fit the style of the already existing characters. GJ.

There is a "Steam" item in the top menu of the application.
Click on this item and select "Show Subscribed Items".
In the displayed dialog, right-click on the item in the list view and select "Save to File".
