Advanced Controller Bindings

A small guide to help you further and more freely set up your controller's keybinds for The Crew 2.

Introduction

How often have you wanted to customise the controls in The Crew 2 only to find out that certain keys and actions only get swapped out and that you can't fully set up your controller the way you want it?
For example, you want to change the button for the car's horn without automatically changing the smoke for planes?
Fear not, for here comes the solution.

First off, you will need to find your Bindings_6cb1beb1.xml which is located in Users/Documents/The Crew 2 and make a back-up of it, just to be on the safe side.
You can open the file with Notepad and start editing the buttons by writing whatever button you want to do what.

List of Buttons

To edit your binds, you will need to know what text in the file corresponds to what button. To save you the trouble of finding that out yourself, here's a list:

BUTTON1 = DirectionalPad (DPad) Up
BUTTON2 = DirectionalPad Down
BUTTON3 = DirectionalPad Left
BUTTON4 = DirectionalPad Right
BUTTON5 = Start
BUTTON6 = Back
BUTTON7 = Left Stick (press)
BUTTON8 = Right Stick (press)
BUTTON9 = Left Button
BUTTON10 = Right Button
BUTTON11 = A
BUTTON12 = B
BUTTON13 = X
BUTTON14 = Y
RRIGHT = Right stick right
RLEFT = Right stick left
RUP = Right stick up
RDOWN = Right stick down
SLIDER1 = Left trigger
SLIDER2 = Right trigger
LEFT = Left stick left
RIGHT = Left stick right
UP = Left stick up
DOWN = Left stick down

List of Actions

Most of the actions listed in the file are quite self explanatory, but a few do things they don't say, so again, a small overview:

PaintBallMissile = skips the checklist during Aerobatics events; cancels testdrive
FriendList = opens the FastFave menu
LightCallHorn = Horn
BackOnTrack = resets you back on the track
MainMenu = opens the main menu
GoogleMap = opens the map
Nitro = activates Nitrous
HandBrake = pull the handbrake, activate Extreme mode (planes)
Minimap = toggles the size of the minimap
ToolMenu = opens the tool menu
FeedbackLogger = Developer tool, does not work in-game
NextCam = change the camera
SteerLeft/SteerRight = steering on cars, bikes, boats, hovercrafts
LeanForward/LeanBackward = leaning on bikes, trimming on boats, fly up/down in planes
YawRight = rudder on planes, turn right
YawLeft = rudder on planes, left
ToggleSmoke = Smoke on planes
ToggleLandingGear = retract/extend landing gear on planes
FpsLook### (Left/Right/Up/Down) = looking around in first person (in HQs, house)
FpsMove### (Forward/Backward/Left/Right) = first person movement
FpsAccelerate = crouching in first person (lower view)
FpsSlow = standing on toes (higher view)
FpsLeanLeft/FpsLeanRight = leaning left/right in first person
LaunchPhotoMode = opens the photomode
