Fixes for common problems (Crashes, Stutters, Controller Support)

After a lot of trial and error, I found some fixes for the following problems:

- Game crashing randomly after some time
- Game stuttering / microstutter
- Wireless XBox Controller not working in Multiplayer

Game crashing randomly after some time

The reason for this is that the game can't handle if the used VRAM goes above a certain value - no matter how much VRAM you have. Therefore you have to decrease the following grapic settings which should reduce the used VRAM and stop the crashing. If not, try lowering other values.

- Multi Sampling: 2x
- Environment Quality: 4
- Refresh Rate: 60Hz

Game stuttering / microstutter

This happended randomly to me after playing for a few hours and it didn't go away anymore - even after a reboot. The solution I found for this is the following:

Verify your game files in Steam. Usually no file should have failed to verify, but the important step is that Steam will start it's installation routine for the game (DirectX, etc.) after verifying. Let it run and after that the stuttering should be gone.

Don't ask me how or why this works, but for me it did.

Wireless XBox Controller not working in Multiplayer

This is the same reason Wireless Controllers didn't work in AC1 and AC2, but this time it's only a problem in Multiplayer. But the solution is still the same:

Download the fix[community.pcgamingwiki.com] and extract the files into your AC:Brotherhood directory.

After that your Wireless 360/One Controller should be correctly detected and be usable.

I have a RX 6600 XT and Ryzen 5 5600G. I don't know why, but when having multisampling at x8 or x4 there are a lot of fps drops. I assumed that I could play this 2010 game with max graphic settings without problems (as I did with AC 2). But well, the first part of the guide helped me and know it seems to go without the fps drops.

i love how the guide says "wireless xbox controller not workign in multiplayer" like as if the controller works for singleplayer campaign...

FPS Stuttering - Going into the task manager>details>right click on game>set affinity> uncheck "CPU Core 0" fixes the stuttering for me, just like in AC2. You have to do it every time you launch the game. Thanks Ubi.

June 2022, this worked for me on brotherhood! Thanks for the fix! I extracted it right into the ACB directory and it worked with no hassle.

Before while playing with xbox controller was supported i went into multiplayer and now only partial is supported any reason why or can i fix this? Went into steam and forced controller on but its only partial still
