Chillrend Armor

Description
=Vanilla Skyrim Compatible; no DLC or additional mods required=

Chillrend is a pretty cool weapon, and looks better than regular Glass equipment in my opinion. So I thought, why not make some blue Glass armor?

So I did.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Chillrend Armor has the same weight as normal Glass armor, but has been upgraded a bit to match the 46+ level version of Chillrend. Each piece adds a different percentage of Frost Resist that adds up to 75% with the shield, and 50% without. Each piece also has it's own enchantment, as explained below.

Chillrend Armor - Raldbthar
--------------------
+ 20% Frost Resistance
+ 10% Magic Resistance

Chillrend Helmet - Sleeping Tree Camp (Cave)
---------------------
+ 10% Frost Resistance
+ 10 Fortify Illusion Magic

Chillrend Gauntlets - Dragontooth Crater
------------------------
+ 5% Frost Resistance
+ 10 Fortify One-Armed Melee

Chillrend Boots - Brittleshin Pass
-------------------
+ 5% Frost Resistance
+ 10 Fortify Sneak

Chillrend Shield - Wreck of the Winter War
--------------------
+ 25% Frost Resistance
+ Special: When blocking with shield, a Frost Cloak spell is activated, dealing 5 points of Frost damage per second until the shield is lowered.

As of the the 6/14/13 update, a new set of armor has been added to the mod; Blue Glass. It looks identical to the Chillrend armor displayed up top, but has the following traits:

- Blue Glass is unenchanted, and is identical to normal glass in all ways besides looks
- It can be created at any forge WITH or WITHOUT the Glass Smithing Perk
- It's new and shiny

Creating Blue Glass is easy! All you need to do is dump a piece of already-made Glass Armor (enchanted or unenchanted, we don't care!) into the forge with some Glowing Mushrooms. Shield included, you'll need 13 Glowing Mushrooms for a full set.

=NEW UPDATE INFORMATION=

6/24/13

As requested, the enchanted Chillrend armor set is now a NONCRAFTABLE ARTIFACT, just like Chillrend itself. The set has been scattered across Skyrim, and a journal giving hints about the locations of the pieces can be found on Mercer's desk in his house RIGHT NEXT TO CHILLREND. There is no quest, technically, but you do have to run around to get it now.

You are NOT required to have/read/pick-up the journal OR Chillrend to get the armor, nor are you required to be a member of the Thieves Guild- as long as you can find it, you can have it. The locations have been added up above next to the enchantment effects.

Both the Chillrend set and the Blue Glass set can now be tempered at workbenches! For the Chillrend set, a sample of Frost Salts is required, along with the Enchanted Smithing perk; the Glass Smithing perks work. Blue Glass is tempered identically to normal Glass.

Updates
-Blue Glass armor set added
-Chillrend set made one-of-a-kind; noncraftable

Compatability Notes
-This mod may conflict with mods that alter any of the following areas;
+ Riftweald Manor (Mercer Frey's House in Riften)
+ Wreck of the Winter War
+ Brittleshin Pass
+ Dragontooth Crater
+ Raldbthar
+ Sleeping Tree Camp Cave
-This mod was made to be compatible with Vanilla Skyrim so that it can be available to the widest audience, and is therefore NOT intended to be affected by other mods. Mods that alter armor stats, armor meshes, or stackability with other headgear WILL NOT affect this armor, but will not cause conflicts with armors added by other mods, or with changes made to base armors in the game. This is a side effect of making the blue glass armor pieces separate entities from the normal glass armor; any code that targets the normal glass armor will not include the blue armor from this mod. This is a feature, and not a bug, and intended to keep it as compatibility-issue free as possible.

Known Issues
-The Helmet looks fine on the beast races (shown), but a little wonky on Orcs. I've only tested it on my computer, though, so if anyone else runs into this, let me know.

No worries; it's not always super obvious how they work if you haven't gotten into it a bit. The tools aren't too hard to use once you get familiar with them, but a lot of the time you would need additional programs on top of them for things like color or skin alterations or model changes. If you were considering actually pursuing it, there's tons of how-to's online, and a lot of them will have suggestions for free programs you can download to cover the things the Creation Kit can't do. It's a lot of work, but it's an awesome feeling to be able to create and share your ideas.

Thanks for the comment! I've updated the mod description a bit (haven't touched this thing in years, it definitely needed some work) just to clarify a few things on the mod; to increase ease of use and to minimize compatibility issues, this mod was built as a stand-alone, and the armor added with it is specific to the mod. Any mods you get that alter armor will more than likely not be able to affect it unless they've intentionally included my mod in theirs. Armor has to be specifically targeted in a mesh-swap mod and a new mesh and skin has to be handmade for every piece included in it. So not only would they need to include my mod with theirs, but they would need to remake the skins I've made to fit their new mesh, because my skins are made specifically for the vanilla glass armor meshes.

TL;DR, for my mod to work with "Skimpy Armor", you'd need to ask the creator of that mod to basically remake my entire mod as part of theirs.

I completed the Chillrend Quest, found each of the pieces, the only thing I didn't like was that the helmet can't be worn with a circlet, the armor isn't sex for the females "Skimpy Armor", but other than that I give it 4 out of 5 stars.

As noted in the mod description, it's in the Sleeping Tree Camp cave; the Sleeping Tree Camp is a giant camp based around the Sleeping Tree, found in the central plains west of Whiterun. If you enter the camp from the road, the cave will be on your right before you actually reach the camp itself. Here's a Wiki link with more info; http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Sleeping_Tree_Camp
