Kanto Region (v.1.6)

Beskrivelse
I worked on the map since May 2018 so it took exactly 4 months to complete.

My objective behind making this map was to create a version of Pokemon's Kanto region not as an exact replica of the game version but, as a more realistic interpretation of the region.

Instead of starting in Pallet Town, the starting area is set in Celadon City.
Seeing as how the GameFreak Offices are based in Celadon, it only made sense to have the player have the option to build outward in every direction with Celadon serving as the heart of Kanto (unless you choose to make Saffron's area into your center of commerce). I also didn't want to shove the starting area in a corner of the map.

Speaking of Saffron, I included an end point for the Goldenrod-Saffron Magnet Train in order to account for game's railway requirement.

I tried to design all the town/city locations using aspects of their lore to flesh them out.
For example:
- Pewter has a large reserve of Ore
- Pallet Town and Veridian City have a reasonable amount of fertile soil for farming.
- Fuschia City has the Safari Zone (and a large amount of wildlife spawners).

You get the idea.
Kanto is more faithful to the manga and official art than the anime so there's some things that are hit or miss.
But, I did include one of the Orange Islands based on its relation to Cinnabar Island because I actually remembered that Cinnabar was north of the Orange Islands archipelago. The Orange island I'm referring to is New Island.

I also included the volcano on Cinnabar because the in-game version was always pretty bland when compared to everything outside of Red, Blue, Green, and Yellow.

Just outside of the playable area, I included a vague representation of the Indigo Plateau, Victory Road, and the path to Johto based on how it was depicted in some artwork for Kanto/Johto.

Lavender Town also has the Pokemon Tower and a cemetary complete with Lavender-ish trees to give the area a color scheme similar to its Gameboy counterparts.

Pewter and Cerulean are now connected via tunnel access and I moved the majority of the Magnet Train pass underground.

---| MORE RANDOM TRIVIA & DEV NOTES |---
♢ I went out of my way to research what type of vegetation grows primarily in volcanic areas when I was designing Cinnabar Island.

♢ The design for Bill's Place (Cerulean Cape) was loosely based on how it looked in the anime.

♢ There's a truck next to where Vermilion City marina would be (maybe there's a Mew under it ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

♢ I made a genuine attempt to replicate the layout of the Safari Zone.

♢ I sprinkled small amounts of oil on mountain ridges (both inside and beyond the map) to give the terrain a more visually appealing look. It's distributed so sparingly that it wouldn't even be worth trying to mine any of it.

♢ I didn't include the Cycling Road because I thought it would be more fun to build an actual bicycle bridge in-game.

♢ I went overboard when I was adding foliage to Vermilion Forest. You "might" experience some framerate drops. Nothing extreme though.

♢ I considered not adding the visible volcano to Cinnabar Island to humor the theory that the island was a volcanic shelf island but, decided against that because that's not as interesting as an actually prominent volcano.

♢ I had to scrap the islets between Cinnabar and Pallet Town because they interfered too much with the water currents and the naval paths.

♢ I had to create an alternate path for the highway and railway to accomodate for the lack of tunnels in the editor. If tunnels were available in editor mode, I would have mapped out the entirety of Route 1 to 21 (including a tunnel through Mt.Moon to connect Pewter to Cerulean).

♢ I added the highway going behind Bill's place because it would have been too risky to have one long looping highway that went exclusively to Johto (breaking one of those incoming/outgoing highways could have destroyed the instrastructure of the entire region).

♢ I wanted to make Saffron the starting area but, it would have made growth near impossible due to the lack of water sources (the pond on Route 6 doesn't count).

♢ Bill's Place and Mt.Moon were the first things I made when I started working on the map. I worked on the farthest east area of the map first in order to avoid running out of space for any particular area of Kanto once the map neared completion.

♢ I personally think Fuchsia City is the most visually appealing area that I worked on.

♢ Ships CAN reach Vermilion City.

I hope everyone enjoys the map as much as I did making it ♥
While I probably won't make a Johto-Kanto map, I am definitely planning on making a Johto map at some point.

You can make Route 11 into farmland with dirt roads to mimic the layout of the paths through the tall grass.

@CesarKiller yeah the highways aren't the best but, I wanted to loosely base the highways on the routes where it was possible without getting in the way of potential building areas for towns and cities. I will say that the Fuschia area needs more interchanges though. The only interchange available after Vermilion is just outside of Fuchsia; making it a necessity to build more on/off-ramps once you start expanding out towards where the Snorlax would be.

Also, the highways surrounding Saffron could have been spread out more to offer more room for the magnet train station but, its nothing that players can't tweak on their own (:

If I remember to do so, I'll share some screenshots of how I adjusted the Saffron highways in-game to accommodate the station.
