AV-42C Tutorial Nuggets - Video Series

This is a series of short 5-minute-or-less video tutorials (or, "nuggets") covering nearly every aspect of the AV-42C VTOL aircraft (the F/A-26B will be covered in a separate series). These videos are short and only cover one topic each, occasionally two. If you're a new pilot and looking to learn how to manage every system of the aircraft, you can watch the entire series through in one sitting or watch one video at a time then try it out for yourself. Perhaps you're a more experienced pilot and just want to know how to do one task, then you can skip right to that topic and dive in!

Aerial Refueling

In this video I will demonstrate how to refuel mid-flight using the Aerial Refueling Tanker.

Multi-Function Color Display (MFCD)

An overview and basic usage of the three Multi-Function Color Displays.

Navigational Map and GPS (Waypoints)

Here we cover how to use the NAV and GPS screens on the MFCD, and how to set custom targets using these screens.

Auto-Pilot

In this video we will learn how the Auto-Pilot features work during VTOL flight, horizontal flight, and also how to configure a custom route using GPS targets.

Targeting Pod (TGP)

We will cover how to use the Targeting Pod to mark targets, how to use it in conjunction with the GPS and Nav screens, as well as using the Target Lead feature when engaging moving targets.

Head Mounted Cueing System (HMCS)

We will cover how to use the Head Mounted Cueing System and many of its practical uses, including how to use it with the Targeting Pod.

Radar Warning Receiver (RWR)

We will cover how to utilize the Radar Warning Receiver (RWR) and what the symbology and several abbreviations mean.

Countermeasures and Evasive Maneuvers

We will learn how to utilize the countermeasure systems, flares & chaff, and how to out maneuver an incoming missile..... most of the time.

GAU-8 Avenger

We cover how to engage hostile targets with the GAU-8 Avenger cannon. BRRRRRRT

M230 Chain Gun (Gimbal Mount)

We will learn how to obliterate hostile targets with the M230 Chain Gun, and how to utilize the gimbal mount to target bad guys with high precision.

Hydra-70 Unguided Rockets

Here we will learn how to utilize the unguided, high explosive Hydra-70 rockets.

AGM-65D Maverick

We will learn how to use the AGM-65D Maverick to blast some ground units!

Mk-82 and Mk-82AIR Unguided Bombs

In this tutorial we will learn how to utilize the Mk-82 and Mk-82AIR unguided bombs.

CBU-97 Cluster Bombs

In this video we will cover how to deploy the CBU-97 cluster bombs.

GBU-38 & GBU-39 GPS Guided Bombs

Here we will cover how to utilize the GPS guided bombs, both the GBU-38 and the GBU-39.

AIM-9 and IRIS-T Air-to-Air Missiles

Here, we learn how to utilize the short-range air-to-air missiles, both the AIM-9 Sidewinder and the IRIS-T.

AGM-126 & AGM-188 ARAD Missiles

We will cover how to deploy the Anti-Radiation (ARAD) missiles, the AGM-126 and the AGM-188

AGM-89 Anti-Ship Cruise Missile

Here, we will go over how to deploy the AGM-89 Anti-Ship Cruise Missile using the Navigational Map and the GPS to plot a course for the missile to take in order for it to reach the intended target.
