How to effortlessly obtain the earliest energy weapon without sequence breaking

This guide will cover how to acquire an energy weapon without skipping locations and natural game progression. Yes, I know I'm about 20 years late to this.

Character creation

I'm sure you can go with pretty much anything, as long as they're not stupid. For reference though, this is the character I will be using:

Arroyo and Klamath

Once you start out in front of the temple, get through the temple, yadda yadda. Talk to the elder and you will have the location of Klamath. Head on over there as you regularly would, and talk to the woman at the top right in the house next to the arrival spot. Ask about the other towns nearby for the location of the Den and head on over there.

The Den

Head downwards to the building below Tubby's. Enter the building and you'll find Lara's gang. Talk to Lara and ask for work. Accept her quest to find out what is in the Church.


Head over to the right. Don't enter the next area to the right. Stop by the three gang members forming a triangle and talk to the guy on the top. Pick the dialogue in this order: 2, 3, 1, 1, 2.


This will reveal the location of New Reno to you on the overworld map. Head to New Reno. The trip can be a bit dangerous so save beforehand. I happened to find an encounter with merchants fighting fire geckos, so I actually got some free stuff.

Head on over to Salvatore's Bar.


Go inside and head upstairs and talk to Mason at the door. Choose the dialogue in this order: 1, 1, 1, 3, 1, 1. Head inside and run past the old guy and open the grey chest.



And there you have it. One laser pistol. They won't care if you take it, along with the small energy cells at the desk.

You should go ahead and talk to Mr. Salvatore and take his quest. It won't negatively affect you. You can also steal some more small energy cells off the guards on the top floor. The ammo will be scarce for a while.

Bonus

Have an okay lockpick skill and you're willing to break into someone's store? You can get your laser pistol upgraded to a magneto-laser pistol for free! This will give your laser pistol armor penetration, which reduces your enemy's energy damage threshold to 1/5 of what it was. Pretty good!

Go left from outside Salvatore's bar and enter the area. Keep heading left until you see the gun store. Once you find it, go to the door on the left side of the building. It will be locked. It is important that you save incase you get caught. After doing so, unlock the door.


Quickly head to the top right towards the bed. There is a hidden stairway behind the shelves. Quickly go down it.


You should see a slouching man walking around. This strange and potentially mentally impaired fellow will upgrade your weapons for free. Hand him your laser pistol and he will upgrade it. Tip: If you want, you can empty the laser pistol beforehand. When he upgrades it, he will refill the laser pistol. More free ammo!


Now you're all good to go. Head back to Klamath if you wish and play out the game normally.

@big titty milf Investing in agility is somewhat overrated in my opinion. One aimed shot per round and intelligent tactics are sufficient enough to best most challenges the game sends you. Later game, you can take a psycho and buffout to raise your agility to ten for taking two aimed shots per round with bonus rate of fire.
