USS Mahan DD-364

USS Mahan (DD-364) was the lead ship of the Mahan-Class destroyers for the United States Navy, first of 18 (The last two are also referred to as the Dunlap-class subclass.)
The Mahan-Class ships were built from 1934-37 and served from 1936-46.
Mahan was laid down on 12 June, 1934.
She was part of a screening fleet for USS Lexington during the bombing of Pearl Harbour.
Mahan participated in various escort and screening duties in the Pacific Theatre, participating in the Battle of The Santa Cruz Island in USS Enterprise's screening fleet.
Mahan was sunk during a patrol off Leyte Island in 7 December 1944, when she was attacked by 12 Japanese bombers and hit thrice by kamikaze attacks.

Notes on Operation
-Some of the AA guns may get stuck from elevating too much and trying to train on something. Manually controlling them temporarily can get them to reset position and un-stick themselves.
-Might have problems targetting or being targeted in sandbox, not sure what causes this.

Notes on Historical Accuracy
-The blue-camo'd vessel in the images is actually USS Drayton DD-366, another Mahan-Class destroyer.

-While the general proportions were taken from various sources, we followed this USS Cushing DD-376[maritime.org] general plans document from https://maritime.org/doc/plans/ in regards to structure, alongside pictures.

-I'm not actually sure if Mahan was painted in Measure 21 colours during her lifetime. As such, a bit of the camo is our "interpretation" (the crows nest is painted white like the mast, etc.)

-The interior had to be significantly reduced and the like, on account of floors and walls being 1M SQUARED OF SOLID METAL. Rooms like storage and crew quarters had to be slammed into the same general room, stairs jut into the middle of rooms, bathrooms are a measly 1 block wide, etc.
As we were unable to find many photos of destroyer interiors of the time, the rooms are mostly "interpretation" roughly based on what can be gleaned from the plans.

-This Mahan replica can steam up to 20 meters per second, being around 38 knots fast. Historically, she could go up to 37 knots according to most sources I could find, leaving our replica a whole 1 kn or 0.52 m/s faster than the real deal.

Featured in one of the screenshots is Tzaar's lovely Omaha CL-4!

Thank you to Hawkins656! some design cues inspired from the Allen M Sumner saved the Mahan's balancing systems.

this took like 2-3 weeks of building and researching i think, ayy lmao

A beautiful ship, I really like the blue color. It's not that effective in combat, it's ok, that's my main problem with it, but it's decent, good job!

UPDATE: Removed the neon light in the middle of the bridge, I put in in last minute, totally didn't realize it blocked the space in there.

The description is complete! for once

i just updated the description, hopefully finish it soon

@Coldest Elm I haven't used the devtest version for fear of incompatabilities with most players and/or my game corrupting or something (happened a bunch before) The pics I've seen look really good, though.

@☕何☕ Yandere-brits ☕か ye, similar sorta torp layout and the funnels and stuff

@BRH0208 Thanks! I spent a lot of time hunting for good screenshots in battle.

Use the dev test version of the game to take new screenshots, it'll make your creation look much better. :hcs_tiffany:

I think I do a good job building a ship... and it looks like a floating box.
