Overview
The Scottish Resistance , as said before, is a secondary weapon for the Demoman. It is a slightly darker Stickybomb Launcher with warning tape on the weapon magazine, and a sensor camera taped to the top of the weapon. It fires team-colored spiked stickybombs that attach to any surfaces that they touch. The bombs can be detonated using ALTFIRE (RIGHT CLICK). The bombs deal high damage against enemy players and buildings. Multiple stickybombs can be out at once, allowing you to create effective traps. A maxiumum of fourteen stickybombs can be out at once, additional stickybombs fired will cause one of the original stickybombs to detonate, starting with the first original stickybomb and advancing in order of least to greatest. The Scottish Resistance has a clip size of eight, and the weapon must be reloaded after the clip has been emptied, loading one stickybomb at a time.

Stats and Comparison
The Scottish Resistance functions much differently then the default Stickybomb Launcher.

Scottish Resistance

  • +25% faster firing speed
  • +50% max secondary ammo on wearer
  • +6 max stickybombs out
  • detonates stickybombs near the crosshair and directly under your feet
  • able to destroy enemy stickybombs
  • 0.8 seconds slower bomb arm time

As you can see, the Scottish Resistance is great for making traps. The extra pipebombs out and the ability to only detonate stickybombs near the crosshair allows you to make multiple traps, more so than the Stickybomb Launcher, and detonate only one trap at a time. The extra firing speed allows you to quickly put down a trap, and then move onto the next trap. The Scottish Resistance's ability to destroy enemy stickybombs can really help out your fellow teammates by destroying enemy stickybombs protecting a contested area, or by destroying the enemy stickybombs around a teammate (or a fellow engineer's sentry nest), effectively saving their life. However, the Scottish Resistance has a 0.8 second slower bomb arm time then the Stickybomb Launcher, and, despite sounding like a minor downside, can prove fatal in certain situations. This downside makes you unable to damage enemies chasing you at close range, as they will most likely run over the stickybombs before they are armed.
Usage and Tips
Usage, and Where it Excels

The Scottish Resistance excels in defensive situations, because of it's trap-making edge over the default Stickybomb Launcher. The Scottish Resistance's great trap-making is excellent at defending the cart on Payload and Payload Race maps, by placing stickybombs around the cart, or by placing a trap on an unseen corner that the cart will eventually pass by. The Scottish Resistance is also very effective on Control Point gamemodes, such as Control Point, King of The Hill (commonly abbreviated as KOTH) and playing defense on Attack/Defense. By placing stickybombs ontop of a control point, enemies will have a relatively hard time trying to capture it. Enemies will be forced to either destroy the stickybombs or kill you, as stickybombs disappear when the owner of them is killed. Soldiers, Pyros, and Enemy Demomen can blow away your stickybombs with their explosives/compression blasts (commonly called Airblast), which can sometimes be much more effective then destroying the stickybombs, as it takes less time. The Scottish Resistance is also good on Capture the Flag and Special Delivery maps (commonly abbreviated as CTF and SD). By placing stickybombs around the flag, which, is a team-colored floating intelligence briefcase, enemies will have to think twice before picking the flag up. (Tip: By placing stickybombs inside of the briefcase, enemies will be unable to see the stickybombs.) As you can see, the Scottish Resistance excels on Defense and on every gamemode, but does not perform well on the Attacking team (if there is one) because there is no objective that needs to be defended, and as the enemy team has more control over the area, there are not many situations in which a trap would really work.

Tips on How to use it Correctly and Effectively

  • A lot of skill, timing, and patience is required to use the Scottish Resistance effectively! If you find yourself to not be very good with the Scottish Resistance, practice with it! As the saying goes, "Practice makes perfect!"
  • While using the Scottish Resistance, a primary and/or melee weapon suited for close range and quick situations is required! The Scottish Resistance does not do very well in close range combat and quick situations, because of the long arm time. The Grenade Launcher goes best with the Scottish Resistance, as it does relatively well in all situations, whether close-range fights or medium-range battles. The Bottle (and it's reskins) and the Eyelander (and it's reskins) are the best melee weapons to use with the Scottish Resistance, as they have no downsides that conflict with the Scottish Resistance that much. The Ullapool Caber is not advised, as it is only effective ONCE, making it sort of a gimic weapon, and the rest of the swords either have bonuses to the demoman's two shields, both of which you cannot use alongside the Scottish Resistance, or they have debuffs that don't go very well with the Scottish Resistance.
  • While making traps, be wary of nearby enemies! You are extremely vulnerable while making traps, as you are too focused to notice your surroundings. An enemy spy can easily backstab you while you are making a trap, so be careful.
  • Put a few stickies down around a friendly engineer's sentry nest. If an enemy demoman threatens to destroy the nest with his stickybomb launchers, you can destroy the enemy stickybombs, saving the engineer's sentry nest.
  • If the default Stickybomb Launcher appears to be more effective for the current situation, don't be afraid to use it! Using weapons depending on the current situation is an effective tactic! It also fools enemies that presume you are using certain weapons!
  • The Scottish Resistance also detonates stickybombs directly underneath your feet, so be careful of this! Make sure no stickybombs are under your feet before detonating your stickybombs! This can also be used for stickyjumping, simply by detonating the stickybombs as you crouch jump away. When stickyjumping, make sure you don't move away too far, or else the stickies will not detonate and all that you will accomplish is looking like an idiot.
  • The Scottish Resistance mainly excels while being used defensively or for trap-making, but if the situation calls for straight-up combat, don't be afraid to use it aggresively! Using the Scottish Resistance offensively still works, but just not as well as the Stickybomb Launcher does!
  • Always have a back-up trap behind your traps. If the first trap fails, you can always rely on the trap behind it.
Weapon Notes
The Scottish Resistance has some interesting features not listed in the weapon description. These include:
  • Fired stickybombs will have a white outline, visible through walls. This allows you to see exactly where your stickybombs are.
  • stickybombs near the crosshair will have a team-colored glow, visible through walls. This allows you to know exactly which stickybombs will detonate once you press ALTFIRE (LEFT CLICK).
  • After putting a certain distance between you and your stickybombs, the team-colored glow will no longer show, so don't get too far away from your traps.
Recognition by the Community
The Scottish Resistance is known for being very underused and underrated. Many players of Team Fortress 2 consider the Scottish Resistance to be a bad weapon, though, that is not the case. This "hate" against the Scottish Resistance most likely comes from the fact most players have not even really used the Scottish Resistance, at all. The Scottish Resistance requires a lot of skill, and, as a lot of Team Fortress 2 players are somewhat beginners, they aren't very good with it. I created this guide to try and inspire people to try this weapon out, and to (hopefully) find out how great it actually is. I also created this guide to give advice and tips to the few people that do, actually, use this weapon, but are not entirely sure how to use it effectively.
My Thanks
I thank STAR_ for showing me, through one of his numerous videos, that the Scottish Resistance is actually a really fun and effective weapon. Without his video, I would have never tried out the Scottish Resistance and found out what a great weapon it is, and I would have never been inspired to make this guide.

If you want to see the video im talking about, you can watch it below:

If I have misspelled any words, sentences, or have used incorrect grammar, believe certain information I have written is incorrect, or want me to add stuff to the guide, post it in the comments here! Thanks! :)

Good Guide.
The Scottish Resistance also works well with the other three launchers, especially the Loose Cannon. With melee, the Bottle or Scotsman's Skullcutter are good choices.

Nice guide. It's good to see that people can write about more than generic sniper guides and rocket-jumping tutorials.

Here you are not even mentioning the use of this by stickyjumping. Good guide btw, it deserve a lot more visitors than it have. And for the melee part, the katana can also be useful.
