Tf2 settings and console commands
By ref0r
Hello, today I wanted to create a guide, about Team fortress 2 console commands and settings. Mostly I'm doing this guide for new players. Mainly because, then new players start the game first time, you gonna get default game settings : viewmodels, fov, video settings and etc.
I'll write best commands and settings, to make your game better :)

Settings and console commands
So first thing you should do is to click on options tab, then you do that click on video. From that one you'll see two options:
Resolution and Aspect ratio.
Then you start a game you gonna get very low resolution. Change it ! Mine resolution is 1920 x 1080 and aspect ratio (Widescreen 16:9). You have to change it by your monitor settings.

Click on advanced settings, you'll see varioty of settings there
Most importantly turn off: vertical sync, what it does, is that it locks your frames to 60 fps, by your monitor. If you want to get higher frames you should turn it off, I personally have it turned off.
Other settings you should keep is multicore rendering, it will increase your perfomance. Settings like antialiasing and filtering mode is kinda hard to explain what it does, it's like smooths edges, you can turn them off to get better perfomance. Fov (field of view) you should make on max, it let's you see more. With default, sometimes you wouldn't see stickys in corners, because you had fov on default.
Having bloom is personal choice I have it on. Settings like model, texture, shader and shadow you can turn off to get better perfomance too.

Now let's talk about console commands, you can open them pressing ~ in game, you can open console. How to enable console? Go to keyboard and press advanced, the plate will open, and you press on „enable developer console” Now you can open console!
In console type a lot of usefull commands. Commands like:

viewmodel_fov (number) - you can change your viewmodel to see more, it's a huge advantage to see more of your surroundings.

bind (key) “say (your text here)”
- then you bind a key, it will always do something, you can add whatever text you want ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

bindtoggle [key] "r_drawviewmodel" - What it does is that it toggles your viewmodel off and on. I personally use it, because where are situations where you can't see, cause of viewmodel.

mat_phong 0 -What it does is that, it turns your graphics a bit, and you get better perfomance.

And other commands, to record your game
record [filename] - It starts to record your game, then you want to stop recording, just type stop
playdemo [filename] - It starts playing demo what you recorded

Keyboard and mouse settings are your personal choice :)

cl_interp - So first of all, what it is? And I'll explain what are hit-scan and projectile .
Hit-scan - weapons who land shots instantly, like: shot guns, scatterguns, pistols, revolvers and mini guns. Melee weapons are considered hit scan, but they have short range.
Projectiles - weapons who need time to get registered, what means it takes time to land them, like: rocket launcherd, grenade launchers and pyros frage guns and snipers huntsman.

Now when you know, what hit scan and projectiles mean. Let's talk about cl_interp. It takes time to register your actions and movement. So cl_interp controls time what takes to register your actions. I play on Stockholm and Luxemburg servers, sometimes my shots don't register, so I had to change my value. It heavly depends on your internet connection. If you start losing packets, your shots may be not registered.

Best cl_interp settings:

cl_interp 0.0325
cl_interp_ratio 1
rate 80000
cl_updaterate 66
cl_cmdrate 66
Thanks for attention!
This is my first time making a guide, I know this guide isn't long and perfect, but I wanted to make it for newer players, who just started the game. I would love to see what you guys think in comment section. I would love to read other people opinions :)

You can open console with button ~, then you type viewmodel_90 and press enter.
It will stay as you press enter

Good guide. Try to put cl_interp in here, cuz its a very common disadvantage from new players and old players. :spycon:
