[Heavy Lift Semi-submersible Ship][WIP] Seafaring Giant

Beskrivelse
SMTC (stormworks Maritime Transportation Company) presents the prototype of its latest vessel, named: Seafaring Giant

  • Seafaring Giant is a semi-submersible heavy lift ship, designed to carry smaller ships between ports, or cargo to offshore construction sites.
  • It has the ability to submerge its cargo deck blow the waterline to allow loading and unloading of bouyant cargo.
  • Manouverablity is handled by 4 azipod thrusters (of my own design) and stern and bow thrusters.
  • It also comes equipped with a full functioning controllable lifeboat!.

This ship is not fast, but it will do 14 knots if you mash the throttle

To 'sink'

  • Head down to the engine control room, its on the lowest deck at the rear of the ship.
  • On the wall facing the stern, you will find an array of guages and switches, these control the bow, stern, port and starboard ballast tanks, for controlling the sinking depth of the ship.
  • There are also guages for the pitch and roll of the ship, keep an eye on these as you sink/raise it, since you want the ship to be level at all times.
  • sinking and raising is pretty much self explanatory, every button is labelled, however, you will almost certainly need to keep switchign on and off the pumps for each tank section to keep the ship level as it sinks/raises.
  • If you want to fully sink the ship, open the doors to the cargo deck, and turn all of the ballast tanks to 'fill', this *should* sink the ship.

To Start

  • Head down to the engine room.
  • on the panel in fron of you are 4 key switches, these switch on the 4 engines, Lights above the engine room window indicate what engines are powered on, there are also appropriate indicators in the bridge.
  • To power on thrusters, on the wall behind you, to the right of the ballast controls is the both thruster panel, switch this on also.
  • on the left wall of the control room is a throttle override panel, dont touch this unless you know what you are doing.

This is a work in progress, WHY?

  • The ships save file is approximately 9MB.
  • due to the way the game handles construction of ships, there is considerable slowdown each time a block is placed/painted.
  • This slowdown is caused by the game rebuilding the data for the entire ship every time it has a change made to it, the devs say they are actively working on a fix. untill then, this will pretty much stay as it is.
