How to destroy the Bradley APC effective

Hi, I'll show you how to destroy the Bradley APC effectively/cheap and get the most resources out of it.








This guide is partly outdated as the map layout is from the Rust Alpha and 1.0.

Introduction

You will need at least Tier 2 equipment.

The 'Bradley APC' or just 'Bradley' is an AI controlled vehicle which currently patrols the launch site monument. It has a designated path that it follows in searching the monument for players and will diverge from it slightly if a player is to obtain its aggression. The 'Bradley APC' currently has 2 modes of firepower: a coaxial machine gun and a 25 mm cannon. The cannon fires at close - far range, and the machine gun will only fire within close proximity.

Killing the 'Bradley APC' is a rough task to take upon due to its extremely high damage and armor-piercing explosive shells. There are many locations within the launch site which players will be safe from the 'Bradley APC' which include warehouses, silos, tunnels, landfills, and the majority of the construction building. It is worth mentioning that the 'Bradley APC' is able to shoot at almost all angles. This means heights will NOT protect you in the case of exposed scaffolding and ladders.

Methods

Method 1:
The cheapest way to destroy it, is via Timed Explosive Charges/C4. It'll only take 2 C4 (4.400 Sulfur) to destroy the Bradley APC, it can be quite risky tho if you don't know what you're doing. You can either throw them down from a building (danger!). But the best way to do it, is to team up with at least 1 other person, put a sleeping bag and Hazmat Suit not far away from Launch Site, stand at the main building's entrance (inside) one at each corner (see picture), if the Bradley comes in throw the C4 simultaneously it'll stick to the tank and run as fast as you can, if you're lucky both will survive the tank's shooting before the explosives detonate. You can also do the same thing at the road entrance between the crane and the space center building (where the roadblock is). Test out what spot is best for you before you plan to destroy it. *

Method 2:
You can also use 8 rockets (11.200 Sulfur), but this is pretty expensive and requires some aim with the rocket launcher, you don't need direct hits, as long as the Bradley is in the rockets explosion radius you should be good.

Hint: Both methods can be done solo. To quickly throw another C4 put one in another slot on your toolbar. Switching hands is quicker than waiting for throwing animations.









*The Tank doesn't enter the main building anymore.

Loot

Now to the best part..... the sweet, precious lewt.

The tank will drop 2-3 Crates which contain VERY RARE loot.

The chance of getting an armored door is very high.
It can not contain the standard rocket.

You can salvage the parts of the Bradley APC which will give you HQM, Coal and Metal Fragments.(Use a Salvaged Icepick, Jackhammer or Pickaxe to get the most out of it)





Keep in mind that the APC-Crates will burn for a while before you can loot them. Other players will be attracted by the Crash Site Icon shown on the map. So you should have some gear ready to go to defend yourself.

Updates

A short update

Since the Rust alpha a lot of things have changed including how monuments, launch site in particular works. With the new door/keycard system, the pathing of the Bradley APC has changed. Trying to destroy him from inside the main building is impossible now.

The best way in my opinion is to stay in the little office infront of the actual launch site area. The office is a little red room in which you can hide, crouching is recommended. Wait until the Bradley APC passes by and toss the C4 at him. I already marked it on the map. It's the one in the bottom-middle.

Rockets are recommended if you are somewhat experienced.
With the multiple updates to the workbench system the Rocket Launcher and High Velocity Rockets can now be crafted with the level 2 Workbench and are by far the cheapest tool to destroy the bradley. It takes 7 High Velocity Rockets to take the Bradley down which is exactly 1.400 Sulfur.
