Echoes of the Fey: The Last Sacrament Achievement Guide

A guide to help you get through the various story routes and get all achievements.

Introduction

This is a fan-made guide. I have no connection to Woodsy Studio. All images used in the guide are from the game.

It is strongly suggested that you play The Fox's Trail and the prequel The Immolation before playing The Last Sacrament. The stories are completely connected.

I am always open to ideas on how to improve my guides. If you find something to be confusing or incorrect, please let me know so that I can fix it.

Controls

If you ever need to look at the controls in-game, there is a tab at the top.

RiftRealms

There is a mini-game called RiftRealms. The player is thrown into this mini-game throughout the story.

The first time is during the past and it is a tutorial. This occurs at the beginning of the game. As far as I can tell, it isn't possible to defeat the dungeon master during the tutorial. It doesn't matter anyway, because the achievement for doing so can only be gotten in present day.



Once you die during the tutorial of RiftRealms, you'll get ...

Setting up the Board (Achievement)
Finish the first game of RiftRealms.

The second time you play RiftRealms is in present day during Day 1.

Constantly check for treasure and traps, and you should make it to the dungeon master without much trouble. Save any potions found for that final battle, if possible.

Disarming traps reduces the dungeon master's armor.

Also, be sure to fight all enemies, as they drop credits. You'll need credits later.

Once you defeat the dungeon master, you'll get ...

Smashed to Pieces (Achievement)
Defeat a dungeon master in RiftRealms in the present day

The third time you can play RR is during Day 2, when you speak with Anya at the Winter Palace.



This time, you'll be able to purchase an item or upgrade, which leads to ...

Voyage to the Stars (Achievement)
Purchase an item or upgrade in RiftRealms

As far as I can tell, it doesn't matter if you win or lose with Anya.

From this point on, the RR games are just for fun or part of story development. If you haven't gotten the two related achievements, there will be more opportunities.

More notes:

• Chests and boxes (seemingly) are always unlocked.
  
• Lockers (seemingly) are always locked.
  
• Locked treasure can be opened without a lockpick, but you risk jamming the lock if you roll badly and won't be able to get the treasure if that happens.
  
• Sofya can play RiftRealms with Anya throughout the entire game, so if you're doing poorly in story-related RR games, you can get more experience by playing Anya more often.

The final RR game of the story is fairly tough and failing to win affects the story, so it is recommended that you "level up" some with Anya besides doing the story-related games.

Romance Routes

There are four available romance routes: Heremon, Katerina, Nikolai, and Arkady. This part of the guide is intended to be a quick reference to what is required to succeed in a certain romance and obtain the correlating achievement.

Romance routes are exclusive, meaning that it isn't possible to do all four in one playthrough.

Heremon


Requirements:

• Do not romance anyone else.
  
• Visit the PI office in between quests to find Heremon not there.
  
• Play RiftRealms with Simion and win.
  
• Confront Heremon at the Winter Palace after the RR game.
  
• During Day 5, kiss Heremon after he gets drunk at the Winter Palace.

Optional, but highly suggested:

• When Kat inquires, say Heremon is more than a friend.
  
• Do not give your blessing (Ask Anya to leave).
  
• Play RiftRealms with Heremon when spying on Arkady.

More Than Friends (Achievement)
Romance Heremon ir-Caldy and take your relationship to a new level

Katerina


Requirements:

• Make it clear Heremon is only a friend.
  
• Go on the picnic with her, after handing out her fliers.
  
• Kiss her during the picnic.
  
• Tell her the truth about Sofya's magic.
  
• Agree to go swimming with her.
  
• When Kat asks about the past, tell her everything.

Optional, but highly suggested:

• Stand between Kat and her shooter.
  
• Tell Heremon the truth about Sofya's past with Kat.
  
• Play RiftRealms with Kat when trying to spy on Arkady.
  
• Help her succeed with the aqueduct.

Rekindled Love (Achievement)
Romance Katerina Lapidus and discover why you spent years apart

Nikolai


Requirements:

• Visit him whenever possible.
  
• Accept his invitation to the theater.
  
• Say you enjoy his company.
  
• Accept his request to practice lines for a play he wrote.
  
• Kiss him when prompted.

Optional, but highly suggested:

• Always tell Nikolai the truth.
  
• Tell him about Kat's bribe, ONLY if you actually delivered it to the County Clerk.
  
• Play RiftRealms with him.
  
• Use the sacrament on him. (This isn't required for the achievement, but it does allow you to see the rest of his part of the story.)

Sleeping With the Enemy (Achievement)
Romance Nikolai Melinkov despite the start of your relationship

Arkady


Requirements:

• Accept his invitation to dinner.
  
• Accept his offer to dance during dinner.
  
• Kiss him during the Pattern Correction.
  
• For additional CG: Stay a bit longer during the Pattern Correction.

Optional, but highly suggested:

• Be honest with him.
  
• Choose "Sex" when Arkady asks Sofya about her vices.

What Does God Need With a Starship? (Achievement)
Romance Arkady and uncover the secret of his past

Codex

There is an achievement for filling out the entire Codex.

To-Do List:

• Try to utilize most dialogue options through multiple playthroughs.
  
• Buy and "use" all the books from Skybound Books.
  
• Pay attention to the speeches at the County Clerk.
  
• Pay attention to Arkady's religious explanations/mythology.
  
• Read the book Arkady gives Sofya.
  
• Visit Simion (Forest's Edge Brokerage) often and ask him for stories.
  
• Visit the low mage often.
  
• Visit the church after giving Alma the sacrament (without having pushed Arkady into the portal).

The Complete Picture (Achievement)
Unlock every Codex entry

Day 1

After the dream about Kat and playing RiftRealms, Sofya will talk to Heremon.

Your first choice option in the game.

• Tell him the truth.
  
• Make up a new power. (Annoys Heremon)

When Kat visits, you'll have these choices.



Exhaust all options to learn about each.



When you gain control of Sofya, you'll be able to look at the journal. If at any point you're not sure what to do in the game, refer to the quests portion of the journal.



Kat gave Sofya some gold. You've got some options on how to use it.



Go to the Vodotsk Central part of town, and there's an Odds and Ends shop with items to change your appearance.



Using an item to change your appearance will get you ...

Easier Than a Glamour (Achievement)
Use an item that changes your costume

There is also Skybound Books in Vodotsk South, where Sofya can buy books to expand the codex (which there's an achievement for). However, at this point in the game, she'll not have enough gold to afford all the books.

After exploring those shops (if you want), go meet Kat.

While talking with Kat, she'll ask about Sofya's relationship with Heremon.

• He's my doctor and partner.
  
• He's my friend.
  
• He might be more than a friend. (Choose this if you're going to romance Heremon)
  
• Tell Katerina to stop prying.

Next, you'll have an opportunity to have a recap of the previous game.



Choose whichever choice you want. One fills in the details for you, while the other lets you choose how you played the previous game.



Assassination attempt:

• If you tell Kat to get down, she ends up getting hurt.
  
• If you stand between her and the shot, she goes unscathed.

While it isn't required, if you plan on romancing or helping Kat later, you can keep her from harm.

Dealing with Luka:
Cooperating with him causes him to not be so hostile toward you. Either way, he gets his way though.



Telling Heremon the truth will get him upset about Sofya having taken the case. Lying will cause Sofya to omit certain details of her past with Kat.

RiftRealms with Kat:
(For additional notes on RiftRealms, see that section of the guide.)

Winning this round will allow Sofya to see a clue regarding Kat's attacker.

Day 2

Meeting Nikolai:



It doesn't really matter what you choose. If you try to destroy the pictocharm, he has other copies. If you try to deny it, he'll just poke holes in your claim anyway.

Ask about Alma's disease, Kat, and the sacrament to fill in some Codex.

Sofya's past with Arkady:



For the first playthrough, I suggest going with "No, I only spoke to Arkady when necessary" as it allows Sofya to interact with him more and fill in some Codex.
In later playthroughs, select the next two options.

Trusting Simion:



If you played the previous game, you'll know that there's definitely something up with Simion.

Once Sofya is outside the PI Office, turn right back around and go inside again. The beginning of Heremon's sidequest will begin. Apologize or don't, either way, Sofya will investigate Heremon.

Around town to-do list:

• Talk to Kat at the Winter Palace.
  
• Talk to Anya at the Winter Palace. Play RiftRealms with her for extra experience. Give her a flier.
  
• Visit Skybound Books, Odds & Ends Shop, County Clerk, and Banquet Hall to ask for gossip, about Kat's attacker (local Leshin), about Heremon, and give out fliers.
  
• Visit the low mage.
  
• Talk to Luka at the Imperial Inspector office. (Exhaust different choices in different playthroughs.)
  
• Talk to Simion at Forest's Edge Brokerage. Ask about everything for Codex entries. Asking him about the attacker yields a Codex entry as well.
  
• Talk to Simion again. Ask for a story (Codex entry). Then, play RiftRealms with him and win to continue to the sidequest regarding Heremon.
  
• Confront Anya/Heremon at the Winter Palace (if you won the RR game). Let Anya stay (required for achievement).
  
• Talk to Arkady at the church. (See notes below.)
  
• Tell Kat you've delivered her fliers. (See notes below.)

Dealing with Arkady:
Note: Arkady is probably the most complicated part of the game, as he has many choices for dialogue. Just try to remember what you've chosen in previous playthroughs and try to see all dialogue options.
Regarding the first choice with Arkady, if you choose, you can completely hide Sofya's interest in the sacrament from him all the way until the end of the game OR reveal that she has a client who wants it.
If you re-enter the church, and choose to have a friendly conversation with him, it'll lead to him asking Sofya to dinner. If you plan on romancing Arkady, accept the invitation.
Re-enter the church for a third time and select "Ask about the church" to fill in more Codex.

Go to the Winter Palace and Kat will take Sofya to the County Clerk. Watch the speeches for Codex.

Once you tell Kat you've delivered all her fliers, she'll want to go on a picnic with Sofya.
Refuse to go, if you aren't trying to romance Kat.

With 20 gold, you can buy all the books at Skybound Books (if you only bought one item to change your appearance earlier).
Make sure to go to your inventory and "use" the books in order to have the information added to the Codex.

Feel free to play RiftRealms with Anya to get more experience.

Report to Heremon. Play RiftRealms with him and win. (Refer to the RiftRealms section of the guide if you have any problems.)

Visit the low mage again.

Then, meet Nikolai at the County Clerk. Don't have a drink with him if you aren't planning on romancing him.

Lastly, report back to Heremon at the PI Office.

Day 3

Around town to-do list:

• Check in with Luka at the Imperial Inspector office.
  
• Check with Skybound Books, Odds & Ends Shop, County Clerk, and Banquet Hall for gossip, if you want.
  
• Talk to Morvyn (the suspected Leshin assassin) in front of the Banquet Hall. Get him to admit he has memory loss issues and that he's looking for Beatha ir-Solas.

• After talking to Morvyn, go back to Luka to ask about Beatha ir-Solas. Don't spend gold, play RiftRealms and win. If you fail at RR, you'll have to go to the County Clerk and pay 10 gold for information.
  
• Talk to the low mage.
  
• Go to the Forest's Edge Brokerage and speak with Simion. After exhausting all topics to fill in the Codex, Sofya will go outside. Go right back into the Brokerage to confront Simion about the rifle.
  
• Visit Arkady at the church. Pay attention to his story about Anton for more Codex.
  
• Go to the Winter Palace and speak with Kat.
  
• Go to see Nikolai in Volgrad by going to the Outskirts and clicking on the carriage. Read Arkady's book for more Codex.
  
• Inside the Melinkov Mansion, check the first door to meet Nadezhda. The second door leads to Nikolai.
  
• Again, go to the Winter Palace and talk with Kat. I don't recommend telling her the truth unless you plan on romancing her.
  
• Go to the County Clerk to deliver Kat's bribe, as there is an achievement for helping her succeed with the aqueduct.
  
• Suggested: Play RiftRealms with Anya for more credits/upgrades.
  
• Report to Heremon, then on to the Winter Palace.

Day 4

To ensure that Kat's aqueduct plan succeeds, do not tell Nikolai about her bribe.



Go ahead with Nikolai to speak with Simion. It doesn't matter who you plead with, because as far as I can tell, there's no way to get them to go through with the transaction.

Visit the low mage.

Go back to Heremon.



Like before, dealing with Arkady is complicated because of how many various choices for dialogue there are with him. Choosing to take the potion or not gives different choices.

After speaking with Heremon, go to talk to Luka.



It doesn't really matter which you choose.

After talking with Luka, go to the Outskirts. Go all the way to the right, beyond the Banquet Hall.
Depending on whether you shared information about Morvyn with Luka or not changes how this scenario plays out.
If you told Luka earlier in the game about Morvyn's appearance and helped him set up Simion, this scenario happens with Luka without choice.
If you withheld information from Luka earlier in the game, you're presented with a choice.



If you went through all the trouble of keeping things from Luka to begin with, might as well continue on without his help.

The major difference between the two scenarios is if you involve Luka, Morvyn gets arrested before more information is gathered about his memory loss and he is unable to seek out Beatha.
Personal opinion: I prefer not involving Luka, because Morvyn really isn't that bad of a guy.

Baffled Assailant (Achievement)
Find Katerina's attacker and hear his side of the story

After the Morvyn scenario concludes, go visit the low mage.

Next, talk to Kat at the Winter Palace.



As I said previously, I don't recommend telling Kat the truth unless you're trying to romance her.

If you're needing more credits/upgrades in RiftRealms, now is your last chance during Day 4 to play with Anya.

Next, go to the church for another lengthy scene with Arkady.

• Say "I want to know more" for Codex.
  
• If you didn't take Heremon's potion and you answer truthfully, Sofya can't help succumb to Arkady's questioning.
  
• If you did take the potion and you tell lies, Sofya is able to keep her mind from being clouded by the drugs/Arkady.
  
• Regardless, Arkady will suspect Sofya. "Kiss him" if you're trying to romance him. "Fake a breakdown" in order to trick him.
  
• See the Romance Routes section of the guide for more info on romancing Arkady.

Lastly, go to the Winter Palace.

Day 5

Before playing RiftRealms with Heremon or Nikolai, you can see Anya to gain more credits/upgrades, if you feel the need to.

RiftRealms: Vision of Arkady
When romancing Nikolai, I chose him (though it isn't required for his romance). When romancing Kat, I chose to play with her (though it isn't required either).
Otherwise, I chose to play with Heremon due to the additional scene after RiftRealms regarding him and Anya.

After the RR game, go the Winter Palace.

With Heremon, choose "Push him back" unless you're trying to romance him.



Help Heremon win Anya back unless you're trying to romance him.

I'm Not Jealous, I Swear (Achievement)
Convince Heremon to go back to his new relationship

Next, report to Nikolai by boarding the carriage in the Outskirts.

As I said previously, the final RiftRealms game of the story is quite challenging. Losing affects the story. Play RR with Anya once more, if you feel the need to.

Head to the Church when you're ready to end Day 5.

The End of Day 5 & All of Day 6

Save your game, as there are multiple achievements.

There are many ways that this scene between Sofya, Nikolai, and Arkady plays out.



Lie, if you want to, but Nikolai sells out Sofya anyway, so might as well tell the truth.

Choose to enter the portal.

Reckless Abandon (Achievement)
Throw fate to the wind and cast yourself into a dark future

Reload your save file.

Keep arguing.



It doesn't matter what you choose, as Arkady will not be convinced with words and Sofya will be thrown into the final RiftRealms game.



Stand against the goddess.

After the RR game, if you won, you'll see additional story information in Sofya's vision.
If you lost, that part is skipped.

If you're romancing Kat, she'll show up to save the day instead of Heremon and you'll have the option to throw Arkady in the portal.

Obviously, do not go into the portal. Either refuse or stall.



Save here or see all endings through multiple playthroughs.

Choices:

• Give the sacrament to Nikolai.
  
• Give the sacrament to Alma.
  
• Give the sacrament to yourself.

If the sacrament is given to Nikolai, he lives and has a spirtual awakening.

Emergency Medicine (Achievement)
Use the Sacrament to save the life of your partner in crime



If the sacrament is given to Alma, Nikolai dies and Alma more or less turns into a monster.
Note: Go to the church after giving Alma the sacrament.

Finishing the Job You Started (Achievement)
Give the Sacrament to the person who hired you, no matter the result

If the sacrament is given to Sofya, it heals her scars and turns her eyes back to their original color, but she still has magic.

A Risky Experiment (Achievement)
Use the Sacrament on yourself

If you delivered Kat's bribe and didn't let Nikolai interfere, she succeeds with her plans regarding the aqueduct.

Imperial Ambition (Achievement)
Assist Katerina in her quest to get her aqueduct approved

This is actually a stupid and completely useless comment, but I'm pretty sure rift realms was my favorite part of the game, and I just wanted to put it out there that you can defeat the first dungeon master. Mostly useless because it changes almost nothing and you don't get an achievement or anything. Just thought I would point it out

If you mean to ask if there's a way to keep him from going crazy at the end of the game, no. Arkady is just too eccentric and insane that even a romance route with him doesn't stop him from doing stuff with the portal.

Thanks, I was able to trigger it when I found out about them on day 2. Had to make sure I didnt get a drink with Nikolai though, that probably messed up first play through. Didnt think that would count towards romancing him, saw it noted in your day walk-through and realized I messed it up.
