Description
This mod is aimed at turning the game into the world of GATE Thus The JSDF Fought There.

Due to the way Workshop works I can only upload gfx changes here and have to use Google Drive to upload the .lua changes

This is the link to the "en" folder , for the true experience you will need this, unless you just want gfx's

Place this file in "Drive":\Steam\steamapps\common\LowMagicAge\text and click yes to replace

(I HIGHLY recommend you back up your original "en" folder as I know from testing that simple editting mistakes WILL cause CTD's upon starting a new adventure)

Currently the mod is limited to only changing existing things within the game until modding tools are released.

Current features

Light Blades replaced with Handguns and Personal Defence Weapons
Heavy Blades replaced with Assault rifles
Names and Descriptions replaced for previously outlined items (Some default text, i.e. weapon type/ability descriptions, still remain)
Custom main menu with logo

Planned Features

Adding in Sniper rifles, Rocket Launchers and Explosives
Adding GATE character portraits
Replacing default armour with modern armour
Replacing enemies with a mixture of GATE monsters and Empire troops
Replacing mounts with vehicles (If mounts get added by devs)
Changing other .lua files to make the changed items make more sense (So no throwing your rifle at enemies attacks)

FAQ

Why are guns acting like melee weapons?

The Dev has confirmed to me that item lists are hardcoded to the .exe and I will not even attempt to modify that for a number of reasons. Firstly that I am not skilled enough, secondly that any update would break it and finally modifying the .exe would likely be a breach of Terms and Conditions.

Couldn't you have only replaced ranged weapons?

I could have but the problem is that there's few ranged weapons and no way to add new items yet. On top of this this would create the issue where you could only enjoy these weapons if you had a full party of ranged fighters.

If melee weapons are guns what will ranged weapons be?

My plans currently are to make ranged weapons a mixture of Sniper Rifles, Grenades, RPG's and Missile Launchers

Will Rory's Halberd be in the mod?

DEAR GOD YES, I am making a note to have either the best Spear weapon be that or the current Halberd be replaced by it

Does this support the Chinese language?

I'm sorry to say but it doesn't and probably never will for a potential two pronged technical reason.
The game .lua can cause the game to crash if it the .exe does not understand what is written in the .lua. While I have not tested it I assume that if I converted a Chinese .lua text file into an English file then the .exe would be unable to understand it and crash if you started a new adventure using my mod.

I understand Chinese, could I translate this mod to Chinese?

Absolutely, if you think you can do it I give permission to download the altered .lua file and begin converting it to Chinese (Remember you will need to put your one in the CS or CT folder, not the EN one. Just remember to credit back if you do.

When will updates be?
When I've changed a fair amount of things I'll update the mod. I'm going to avoid updating this one too much just for minor things due to the fact your computer will end up downloading the whole mod every time something changes

What the?! This is blowing my mind hahahaha... awesome work, from the looks of it! I want to do a playthrough with my current party before I try this out, but it really looks great!

I've done some other stuff and am focussing on pc_units now (Your avatar which appears on the battle screen)

Also I've just become aware Megumin and Aqua may have hitchhiked onto this mod because I left them in the unit_pc folder when I copied over all the files to start working on them.
