How to Play as Orange HEV Suit With Helmet

Play using the HEV Suit with the classic Half-Life orange and a helmet.

Introduction/Background

Some of you may have seen people playing in an orange hazard suit with the classic orange colour and wondered how you can play using those colours. No matter what you do to adjust the colours of the "Helmet" model from the options menu it won't look the same. This is because the orange HEV suit player model is a different model located elsewhere in the game folders. The reason you see people with this player model at all is because they are using a custom player model which you don't have installed, so the game uses the orange HEV suit player model as a place holder.

Method

1. Open up Sven Co-op then hit the console key which is the key to the left of 1 and above tab on a regular keyboard, it has the following characters on it:

2. Type the following and hit enter or click submit:
model player

3. You may now play as the Orange HEV Suit With Helmet player model

Other Methods

There is another way of doing this where you can select the model from your in game options menu (Multiplayer tab) but it requires you to install the player model into your addons folder and you will have two copies of the model. If anyone is interested in that let me know and I'll add that part.

No Gordon Freemen Orange HEV Suit

There is no easy way to fix up the Gordon Freemen HEV Suit model to use the classic orange, sorry.

Final Notes

The way this method works is it tells the game to use a model named "player" and most people won't have any player model installed in their models/player folder with that name, and so the game defaults to the place holder which is the Orange HEV Suit With Helmet. You could have written "model 1" or "model x" and achieved the same results.

actually you can use the name of any model you don't have
for example, you can type in the console model jkdhcjkhzjkczscsef and you will get orange helmet model
