How to Efficiently Mod Brawlhalla
By Amstel👥 and 1 collaborators
Over the past few months I've became lightly in to Sound and Visual modding when it comes to Brawlhalla, and rather than creating certain modpacks myself and publishing them, I chose to create a guide on how to do this yourself.

Sound Modding
To start with Sound Modding, I'd suggest the use of a program called JPEXS, JPEXS is a program editor used to convert .mp3 files to .swf files so the game can use them due to it's engine. To get this program, the download link will be provided here...

https://www.free-decompiler.com/flash/

Once the program is downloaded, you will be greeted with a blank slate, from there you will need to select "Open..." and locate the Brawlhalla Sounds.swf folder, this can be found in;
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Brawlhalla\sounds\Sounds.swf

Now you should have a few files located in the Sounds.swf file, consisting of "sounds", "frames", "other" and "scripts". When modding sound, the only file that we will need to use will be the "sounds" file, maximise this file and you will find a list of all sound effects currently used in the game version (And there are a lot).

Now it's pretty much free reign, you're free to experiment with different sound effects and change them with the previously mentioned .mp3 that has been downloaded, I'll give an example to allow you to understand the program.

This example consists of the sound file 54: UI_Scoreboard_XPFill and I will be replacing it with a .mp3 file I downloaded called "Levelup.mp3". This is a simple process, when right-clicking the .swf file, a drop menu is displayed, when this occurs, select "Replace" which will open your Windows Explorer, located and select the .mp3 file you want to use and simply Open it to Replace this file. Once this is done, you will be able to hear a sample of the sound on the right-hand-side of the screen with the SWF Preview. If the file has been successfully replaced, save the JPEXS program at the top left and close it. That's it.

If the .swf hasn't been replaced, try restarting your program and repeating these steps all together. Any other issues? Contact the Modhalla discord server that has been previously linked for help and advice.
Image Modding
Editing Backgrounds, Images and UI is a piece-of-cake compared to Sound Modding and can be done in under minutes, so, let's get started.
Before doing anything, this will require you to download the image you want to use in the game, whether it be a background, UI change or anything else.

Once you have collected the images you need, head to Brawlhalla on steam and right-click, selecting "Properties"

Once you have chosen "Properties", head to "Local Files" at the top navigation bar and then select "Browse Local Files...", if done correctly, you will be welcomed with a Window Explorer tab located in C:\Progam Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Brawlhalla

From here, Backgrounds and entities on maps can be found in the "mapArt" folder and other UI and Image files can found in "images", depending on what you want to replace, select which folder seems right for your task, I will go through another example to show how to do this.
For this example, I will be replacing a background which can be located in mapArt\Backrgounds.

Once you have found the background of the map you want to replace, drag your selected image that you want to use into the file and rename it to the name of the map's background, ie, BG_Lagoon. A message should appear saying "do you want to replace this file", if so, select Yes and the file should be replaced and you can enter the game to view it in a match.
