This is the current logo for NSB - Norges Statsbaner (Norway's state Railways).

NSB was established in 1882 as a joint company for all state railways that had been opened since 1861. In the 1920s a new era for the railway in Norway took place. Technically, it took a gradual transition to modes other than steam, namely electrified railways and motor cars with gasoline engines, later diesel. Competitive, the car and the country bus began to become a competitor. A number of approved railways were laid on ice and later replaced by so-called compensation routes.

Statsbaner (The State railways with capital S) are an older and somewhat unofficial term on Norway's state railways, but have nevertheless been widely used by public authorities. The term is used if the Norwegian railways that the state had the majority shareholding in or which were so-called pure state railways.
