Just More Empires (Achievement Compatible)

Description
Features: 86 Pre-Scripted Empires+
This mod vastly expands on the selection of stock pre-scripted empires, offering a wide range of carefully designed and thematically consistent factions to populate your games. When starting a new game, Stellaris will randomly choose empires from the roster to seed throughout the galaxy.

For the content-enriched non-achievement compatible version of this mod, see Just More Empires (Expanded). Use one or the other, not both.

The random number generator (RNG) is an amazing part of Stellaris, making it possible to never encounter the same galaxy twice. If, like me however, you prefer fewer of the zany totally random creations like peacock hive minds and GEICO gekko fanatic purifiers in favor of somewhat more familiar sci-fi archetypes, then this may be the mod for you!

Almost all of the possible government types in Stellaris are represented in the roster at least once, and I took care to equitably distribute species traits and civics to reduce a sense of same-ness. Regardless of your empire's ethics, the chance of encountering a hostile neighbor is as good as encountering a friendly one when playing in a Just More Empires galaxy. Homeworld types are also balanced so that all nine types of habitable planet have nearly equal representation.

There are also ten different Earth-based empires in this mod, but only one will appear in any game (none will appear as an AI if you start on Earth as the player). Will you encounter the freedom-loving Earth Colonial Administration? The xeno-hating Divine Terran Crusade? Or perhaps the post-communist Revolutionary Union of Sol?

You will also find five different Deneb-based Human empires, themed as alternative stories to the canon Commonwealth of Man's colonization of that system. These alternative Denebs work in the same way. Only one can appear in any galaxy. This makes for a great number of possible Earth/Deneb combinations for lots more variety in your human-to-human interstellar politics.

Compatibility: Near Universal
This should be inherently compatible with all DLC. In order to play as or in a galaxy with the Humanoid or Plantoid empires in this mod, you'll need to own the relevant species pack DLC. You'll need the Utopia expansion to play as or in a galaxy with any of the empires that have the Syncretic Evolution civic. You'll need Synthetic Dawn for the machine empires. You'll need MegaCorp for the megacorps. Of the entire roster, however, about 60% require no DLC or expansions at all, so you're still getting over 40 pre-scripted empires for a totally vanilla copy of Stellaris.

Mods that make significant changes to default portraits, traits, ethics, and civics may break Just More Empires. Mods that only add to these defaults, such as Planetary Diversity, will probably work with it just fine. In its achievement compatible form, I'll only guarantee JME's compatibility with other achievement compatible mods.

If you prefer granular control over which empires spawn, drop the contents of this pastebin https://pastebin.com/Fu0epmpL into your user_empire_designs.txt and disable the mod.

If you enjoy this mod, please rate it positively and favorite it so others can find it more easily.

I've released an up to date version some time ago: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2049806134

(Continued)

1. The AI will seek to fill the civic slot with whatever it thinks will give decent benefits, which totally breaks the whole point of all these empires being thematic. Example: in my latest game the Cistrenthic Cybernetic Consensus, which I assume are supposed to be Mechanists, showed up with Rational Consensus and Reanimated Armies.

2. The AI usually seeks to fill the slot pretty early, so it will kneecap its own expansion by spending 250 influence to reform government early on.

Also, the Sacred Commonwealth of Earth humans have no traits. Not sure why.

Do you plan on updating this mod anymore? If not, would you be okay with me creating an updated version and posting it to the workshop?

From what I can tell (though you can correct me if I'm wrong), this mod was last updated when "Origins" were still civics. There's nothing actually BROKEN, the mod is playable, but there are quite a few empires that only have one civic. I assume this is because the other civic slot was once filled by Mechanists, Syncretic Evolution, or something similar. Aside from the fact that the content is missing, this also causes two minor gameplay issues:

the flags all have black backgrounds on them

It's prescripted empires, there is nothing to make your game not start.. It does start for me. What other mods are you running?

Does not work with Patch 2.8. Game won't start with it.

This one does not use the new origins. All Empires will get prosperous unification.

can someone tell me what's the actual issue of playing with this one on 2.7.x? Works fine when creating a new game, so I take it something bad happens mid game?

I don't ask you to update it everytime. If I can have it via pastebin once it'll be alright for me. There's so much differents empires that I took the habit to be able to choose which one can and which cannot and which one cannot spawn and I'm not sure I want to loose that possibility.

Anyway, if you don't want to, I won't force you (obviously) to. In the end I started myself to update JME's origins in my own way so it's not a big deal. Do as you wish, life is too short to allow me to be mad toward you for this.
