I do plan to pick up xcom 2
and I got pass the warframe learning curve (2000 hours on warframe)

You seem like the kind of guy that likes my kind of games, just about anything that is fun.
here are a couple games that i've played that i recommend:
-Terraria
-XCOM 2 (especially now that it's on sale)
-other XCOM games
-Minecraft (gOld especially with mods)
-Stardew valley (although the game itself is a learning curve)

I hope some of these games will fit what you're looking for. Also i completely 100% reccomend looking around to read and watch a little bit about the games you are interested in, so that you can see if it fits your criteria or not :)
All the games i have mentioned have modding support/communities, so if that is within your interests do check some of them out! :) have a good day!

look man, if you don't think it's fun then it's just that. trying to force yourself to like it will only make it worse ;P there's nothing wrong with not enjoying a particular game.
