Kowloon Motor Bus Leyland Olympian AL37

The Leyland Olympian is one of the first successful air-conditioned double decker buses in the world. AL1 was a Kowloon Motor Bus prototype A/C bus introduced in 1988 equiped with a Denso A/C unit; AL37 was one of the units spawned off this success. The Leyland Olympian was also one of the last buses manufactured by Leyland before its dissolution and sale to Volvo Buses; it also spawned the equally as successful Volvo Olympian which was extremely popular in Hong Kong like the Leyland Olympian.

When introduced these buses served mainly highly populated routes such as cross-harbour routes. As A/C buses used more fuel as compared to non-A/C variants, these buses charged an extra HK$2.00. The AL class of buses had a seating arrangement of 3+2 on the upper-deck.
