How to throw objects really far!
By Dukkeroonie
In this guide I will hopefully explain easily enough to show you how to throw objects in Deep Rock Galactic. This will benefit you in a handful of missions and you can show off your strong throwing arms to your fellow drawf friends.

The Three Simple Motions
Alright so first off, I tried explaining this in game to a couple of people and they didn't seem to get the technique down but I'll try explaining again with a bit more detail.

Motion 1
The first motion of this technique is the flick. Basically what you want to do is look straight down, then when you are ready to throw the object, flick up. The faster you flick the more force the object will have when it leaves your hands.

Motion 2
For the second motion, it is all about timing. While your in the motion of flicking up, you want to press the CTRL key mid flick (or whatever action / key you have binded that causes you to drop the current object you are holding). This second motion has to be very precise and is the defining motion that dictates whether your object goes far, high or if released too early, straight into the ground.

Motion 3
The third motion is optional bit contributes to the distance and height your object is thrown. It is simply jumping. Jumping can either be the first or the second motion you can do before throwing, but the reason that it is the third motion is because it is optional.

The Three Combined.
Again, in simple detail this time, grab your object, look down, jump, flick up, and MID way through the flick press CTRL (or whatever action / key you have binded that causes you to drop the current object you are holding). Remember, SLOWING MOUSE MOVEMENT DURING THIS FLICK WILL NOT CAUSE THE OBJECT TO BE THROWN FAR, BUT DROPPED OR NOT THROWN FAR AT ALL.

I have recorded the process to hopefully show how it's done. You can also see the benefits of knowing how to throw things in this game.

Thank You :)
Hopefully this guide was helpful, and that my explanation and videos were easy to follow. Throwing objects in this game is not only fun to do but it provides benefits to your team and can help you with some missions.

great guide. But it needs to be updated to the current version of the game.

I think it was kinda fixed in one of the latest updates, it still works with jadiz quite well but not so good with aquarq. Sideways flicking still seems to work fine just not the up and down so much from my experience.

i found it easier to throw with a sideways motion when not hosting myself. goes really far once you get the angle right

note: this only works if you are the host of the instance, it's a bug that is a feature untill fixed or added to players joining

since the last update, this guide has become more relavent than ever. ofcourse, anyone can now throw aquarqs, but throwing them really really far is an artform.

if there is no scout and you wanna check out a high ceiling than yes there is a reason to throw a flare up high.
