//Requirements//
To ensure that the map functions properly, make sure you have the following games are installed and mounted:
  • Half-Life 2
  • Half-Life 2: Episode 2

If you need them mounted here is how to do it:
  1. Start Gmod
  2. Click the game controller in the corner of the menu
  3. Make sure Half-Life 2: Episode 2 and Half-Life 2 are check marked.

//Narrative//
Sometime many years ago, a cataclysmic event has left the region to nature. Though it seems people have been returning...

//Gameplay//
  • Spawn/Admin room: When starting the map, players will start here. Several AI spawners, three teleporters, and two audio events can be found here.
  • The first AI group that can be spawned in are the zombies, who spawn in several locations across the map. The second AI group is a Combine assault on some rebels in the Inn. The third group are Antlions, who spawn at the beaches and in the open field. The final group are Combine soldiers and Hunters in a few locations across the map. To reset these groups and be able to spawn more, see the map cleaning tip below
  • The three teleporters will allow you to start in a variety of areas. Teleporter 1 begins you inside a ruined house inside the town. Teleporter 2 spawns you at the edge of the map west of the town at a traffic accident that blocks the road. Teleporter 3 begins you inside a well let forest bunker.
  • Several distinct landmarks and vistas can be seen throughout the map. These include but are not limited to an ocean inlet lighhouse, a junkyard, an abandoned warehouse, an abandoned transformer yard, and an abandoned small town with four enterable buildings.
  • A car to drive around the map with spawns at the junkyard.
  • A few weapons scattered around the map.
  • A.I. Nodes for your own companions and enemies.
Any dead bodies, blood stains, activated map scripts or other changes can be cleaned/reset using this: Pressing Q -> Utilities -> Admin -> Cleanup -> Cleanup Everything

//Development//
I was inspired to make the map after watching a video about the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. series. I found that the setting of an abandoned, forested region was really interesting and offered an extreme amount of gameplay freedom. While I didn't want to outright copy an area from the game, I found that the aesthetic from many different areas was to good to leave there.

I also wanted to experiment with this map and introduce gameplay and visual techniques that could be used to enhance maps in the future. The biggest example is some of the lighting work done in some of the buildings. Source has some great lighting and I had hoped to potentially capture some of that with the soft light coming through some of the windows. On the gameplay side, the spawn room and the inclusion of map spawned AIs was an attempt to give players more play options than just exploring or bringing in their own AI.

Having realized that the previous map of mine (Trainstation District), was a real strain on people's machines I decided to build this map not nearly as intensive. The first way I combatted the problem was less brushes (there are nearly 4000 less in this one!) and use a lot more props. Hopefully, this means that more people can enjoy a better experience.

It's been interesting to work on this and I've managed to include many elements I wanted in this. Now if you have any suggestions or ideas that you would like, please let me know. There is still a little room left for new additions without reaching into the craziness of Trainstation District. Also, please let me know if there are issues with running the map, I want to make sure that you guys can play it.

I have CSS, HL2, HL2E2 mounted and yet I still have errors on the roads :( what to do?

no, it isn't
I am currently playing on an addon preset that makes several maps practically unplayable because of lag. I get a consistently green FPS, even set to an overkill FPS limit of 300 (which my monitor can't even render at).

1. VJ Base is not a nextbot system and uses AI nodes.
2. AI nodes are not a navmesh.
3. yes you can use VJ Base NPCs.

it says ai-nodes, is that the same as a navmesh? i would like to use this map with vj base nextbots
