Introduction

Note: There have been look-a-like copycat guides popping up. If it's not labeled by THN (The Horror Network), it's NOT one of mine and therefore not up to the quality that I aim to provide.

Welcome to the Devil May Cry HD Collection achievement guide.

There are 33 achievements per title, for a grand total of 99.

For full completion, you will have to know each game really well. It's highly recommended to continue playing one game until you gain all 33 of its achievements, that way you'll remember the missions and fights. Higher difficulties pose problems, but there are many guides laid out around the internet on how to progress through these harder modes.

I've included some guides in this Achievement Guide. However, most of the difficulty related problems will be up to you to research, as different people will have different issues at different stages.

Devil May Cry

> You will need three full playthroughs; one for each difficulty.
> You will need an additional playthrough on Normal Mode without using any Yellow Orbs if you fail to achieve this in any of your other runs through the game.
> Make sure to follow THIS[gamefaqs.gamespot.com] guide for Secret Missions and THIS[devilmaycry.neoseeker.com] guide for Blue Orb Fragments during your first playthrough on Normal.
> As well, THIS[gamefaqs.gamespot.com] guide is best for Enemy Files. Do not go for full completion of Enemy Files on your No Yellow Orb run.

Devil May Cry 2

> You will need three full playthroughs; one for each difficulty.
> You will need to beat the story with Dante and Lucia once each, at least.
> While playing as either Dante or Lucia, make sure to focus on their specific achievements to minimize any unnecessary playthroughs.
> You will need an additional playthrough with Trish, which is an unlockable character.
> Use THIS[gamefaqs.gamespot.com] guide for Secret Missions and Blue Orb Fragments, which are needed for achievements.
> May God have mercy on your soul with The Bloody Palace.

Devil May Cry 3

> You will need five full playthroughs; one for each difficulty.
> You will need an additional playthrough with Vergil, which is an unlockable character.
> You will need another playthrough if you do not combine Yellow Orb Mode with your Vergil playthrough.
> You will need to S Rank every mission. Use THIS[gamefaqs.gamespot.com] guide for S Rank help.
> Use THIS guide for Blue Orbs and Blue Orb Fragments.
> May God have mercy on your soul with The Bloody Palace.

This guide is considered COMPLETE

Devil May Cry - Completion
Warming Up!
DMC: Finish the game on Normal Mode
Start here, as completing the game on "Easy Automatic" does not count toward the achievement. Do as much on this playthrough as possible, as it will make the higher difficulties a lot eaier.

Boiling!!
DMC: Finish the game on Hard Mode
If you've maxed your Health and Devil Gauges, as well as purchased all skills on your first playthrough, this run should be almost easier. Enemies are more aggressive, and deal more damage.

Combustible!!!
DMC: Finish the game on Dante Must Die Mode
In this mode, you need to be less offensive and more defensive. It's a slow, tedious mode where you WILL die... a LOT. Enemies are extremely aggressive, they do lots of damage, they have more health, and what's worse is that they can actually use Devil Trigger. Their Devil Trigger basically makes them immune to being stunned, and as such they can interrupt your combos. If you're having any issues, look up a guide from around the net as there are many very in-depth ones out there.

The Devil Made Me Do It
DMC: Finish the game without using any Yellow Orbs
When you die, you're given the option to respawn using a Yellow Orb. It's best to do this on a run through of Normal difficulty, after you've upgraded yourself as much as possible. Leave it to last, and you shouldn't have a problem.
Devil May Cry - Secret Missions
Note: These achievements stack throughout your playthroughs.

Can You Keep A Secret?
DMC: Complete a Secret Mission
Refer to The Secret's Out for more information.

The Secret Six
DMC: Complete six Secret Missions
Refer to The Secret's Out for more information.

The Secret's Out
DMC: Complete all Secret Missions
There are 12 Secret Missions in total. It's recommended to do these on your first playthrough, since you'll get Blue Orb fragments for completing the missions, and on harder difficulties some of them will be downright impossible. Furthermore, some of these missions require that you complete them on your first try or else they'll disappear. If this happens, press the back button, select "Reset", and you will return to your last save.

The locations of the Secret Missions are at follows:

Secret Mission #1: Critical Hit - Mission 3: Right After you beat Phantom, you need to run back to the bridge that breaks and jump in the water.
Secret Mission #2: Phantom Baby - Mission 4: At the very start of the mission, run back through the door to where you fought Phantom.
Secret Mission #3: Phantom Baby II - Mission 4: When Phantom chases you through the corridoor, its through the door at the very end.
Secret Mission # 4: 3 Beasts - Mission 4: After you have beaten Shadow, run back to the room with the hit-switch and elevator and go down.
Secret Mission # 5: One-Eyed Evil - Mission 7: Run to the room where you found the 'Old Key' during Mission 6.
Secret Mission # 6: Wandering Ghosts - Mission 11: Back through the door you ended Mission 10 at.
Secret Mission # 7: Water Cell - After Mission 13 and Before Mission 14: Go back to the captains cabin on the Ghost Ship and examine the captains skeleton.
Secret Mission # 8: Treasure Of The Reaper - Mission 15: Go back to the elevator by the waterfall you encountered in Mission 14, and examine the portrait of the skeleton.
Secret Mission # 9: Stairway Of Tranquility - Mission 16: Exit and Re-Enter the Colosseum.
Secret Mission # 10: Shadow of Darkness - Mission 16: After beating Nightmare, run back to the Airplane Room with the hit-switch and elevator.
Secret Mission # 11: Blue Gem In The Sky - Mission 17: At the start of the mission, turn around and jump through the broken bridge portrait.
Secret Mission # 12: Hidden Bangle - Mission 21: Examine the wall directly opposite the God of Time statue. There is no clear marker to where the mission activates, so just keep button mashing.

Devil May Cry - Enemy Files
Table Of Contents
DMC: Unlock every enemy file in the status menu
Refer to I Read You Like A Book for more information.

Bookworm
DMC: Unlock 50% of all entries for every enemy file in the status menu
Refer to I Read You Like A Book for more information.

I Read You Like A Book
DMC: Unlock all the entries for every enemy file in the status menu
The previous two achievements should be gained during your first playthrough without a problem. However, for this one, you need to find out the moves of each foe. In certain instances, you'll need to die, and in other circumstances you'll need to use a particular move on an enemy. Check the counter in the "Enemy Files" from the menu to see how many moves you've documented.

This achievement will void you getting The Devil Made Me Do It, so do not go for this one on your Normal difficulty playthrough.

Here's a helpful guide[gamefaqs.gamespot.com].
Devil May Cry - S Rank
Thunderstruck
DMC: Perform an S Rank Combo using Alastor
Refer to Hot As Hell for more information.

Hot As Hell
DMC: Perform an S Rank Combo using Ifrit
These two achievements should come naturally as you learn how to put together combos. If you're having problems, on Mission 9, head in to the Griffon fight with a full Devil Trigger gague to make this simple. Equip the weapon you want to get the achievement with, enter Devil Trigger, and spam your pistols while locked on to the Griffon. You'll hit S Rank and earn the achievements.

Smashing Sensation
DMC: Achieve S Rank on any mission
You should get this out of pure luck on Normal, but here's a list of requirements if you want to try for S Ranks. You only need to get one for the achievement.

Mission 1: 6:00, 400 Orbs
Mission 2: 7:00, 450 Orbs

Note: These achievements stack throughout your playthroughs.

Untouchable
DMC: Clear a mission without taking damage
Select Easy mode and go to Mission 2. Stock up on Holy Water and Untouchable items. You'll then be able to just run right through the level; ignore all enemies when possible, and when you have to fight just spam your items.

Blue Demon
DMC: Complete a Blue Orb
Refer to Blue Devil for more information.

Blue Devil
DMC: Max out the Health Bar
You'll need to complete every Secret Mission, purchase each Blue Orb from the shop (5 in total), and collect all of the hidden fragments throughout the game. Blue Demon will also unlock while going for this.

Here is a helpful guide[devilmaycry.neoseeker.com].

Gun Collector
DMC: Collect All Guns
Shotgun: On Mission 2, in the Library where you collect the Staff of Judgement. It is on the balcony opposite where you collected the Rusty Key. You'll need to destroy the table and it will be lying on the floor.

Grenade Launcher: On Mission 8, collect this from a corpse near some machinery just after lowering the drawbridge.

NeedleGun: On Mission 12, when you enter the ghost ship, head to the deck, and kill the Lizards. It should be near a green door.

Nightmare Beta: On Mission 15, there are two rooms to the left and right of the main door where you can use the shield to get the Luminite and the Pair of Lances. It doesnt matter which door you enter first, as regardless, the first door you enter will give you the Lances and Luminite. After you get these items, head to the other shield door to find the Nighmare Beta.

The Devil's In The Details
DMC: Purchase all of Dante's skills
Buy all of the upgrades for both Alistor and Ifrit. It should come on your first playthrough easily, just farm some orbs; trust me, it's well worth it for your subsequent playthroughs.

Seeing Red
DMC: Collect 10,000 Red Orbs
Refer to Redemption for more information.

Blood Flows Red
DMC: Collect 25,000 Red Orbs
Refer to Redemption for more information.

Redemption
DMC: Collect 50,000 Red Orbs
You can hit just about anything and get Red Orbs. Each time you see a big red crystal, smash that until the orbs stop coming, also. Here are some good farming spots:

Mission 4: After you kill Shadow, while in the courtyard, run up and around the balcony into the room where you knock back the statue to reveal a hatch. Drop down the hatch into the room where the shotgun and judgement key / staff was, then into the long corridoor and back into the courtyard where you started. Keep running this route and you should get 250+ orbs per run killing puppets and witches. This is a good early grinding route.

Mission 9: After you kill Griffon, and use Ifrit to light the torches enter the next area. Proceed untill the door shields and kill the puppets and enter the next area. Keep passing through these two areas for a mixure of lizards and puppets.

Mission 16: In the room with the Airplane, if you just keep entering and exiting where you came, you can fight the blue dopplegangers. If you time it right, you can fight a constant stream of these fellas in a neverending battle.

Devil May Cry 2 - Completion
Every Knee Will Bend
DMC2: Finish the game on Normal Mode with any character
This is the equivalent of Easy Mode from the first Devil May Cry. It's the only title to not explicitly feature an Easy Mode, as well. You need to beat the story with either Dante or Lucia. Dante has 18 missions to complete, while Lucia has 13. I personally recommend Dante, as when you're playing harder difficulties you'll want to go with Lucia for the speed and ease of her missions.

Every Head Will Bow
DMC2: Finish the game on Hard Mode with any character
Hard Mode will unlock after you beat Normal Mode with BOTH characters. I recommend going with Dante on Hard Mode so that you can unlock Trish for the Barehand Beauty achievement. If you focused on upgrading your Health, Devil Arms, and Devil Trigger in Normal, this mode shouldn't pose much of a threat.

Every Tongue Will Confess
DMC2: Finish the game on Must Die Mode with any character
Must Die Mode will unlock after you beat Hard Mode. Again, it's better to choose Lucia since her missions are quicker and easier. To be able to beat Must Die Mode, you will need to have a fully upgraded Health Bar, Devil Trigger, and Weapons. It's also recommended to carry a large supply of Vita/holy Stars, Smells of Fear, and Gold Orbs. The biggest challenge of this mode is that enemies now activate Devil Trigger, which makes them more aggressive and they can break your combos; they're also immune to stun.

Barehand Beauty
DMC2: Finish the game on any difficulty with Trish
Trish unlocks after you've beaten Hard Mode with Dante. She can then be used on either Dante or Lucia's missions. Just beat the game on Normal Mode with her.
Devil May Cry 2 - Bloody Palace
First Blood
DMC2: Pass 1000 floors in Bloody Palace Mode
Refer to Over 9000! for more information.

Blood Letting
DMC2: Pass 5000 floors in Bloody Palace Mode
Refer to Over 9000! for more information.

Over 9000!
DMC2: Pass 9000 floors in Bloody Palace Mode
To unlock Bloody Palace Mode, you need to beat the game with BOTH Dante or Lucia first. This is a gauntlet survival mode, where wave after wave of various enemy types and bosses will be thrown your way. YOU CANNOT SAVE, if you die that's it, back to square one.

At the end of each wave, you are given the choice of three portals; one that takes you up 1 level, one that takes you up 10 levels, and one that takes you up 100 levels. Needless to say, you'll need to pass 9,000 levels WITHOUT DYING and WITHOUT SAVING. A tip is to be on an odd number of waves, which skips boss fights. After level 1,000, enemies and bosses will start using Devil Trigger.

It's advised to wait to do The Bloody Palace until you've beaten Must Die Mode. Use Trish, as she's the best character all around, and have your character fully maxed out; upgraded Devil Gauge, Health Bar, Skills, and Weapons. Also come with a full inventory, and use Devil Trigger whenever it's available.

Devil May Cry 2 - Dante Specific
Stylish!
DMC2: Perform an S Rank Combo using Dante
In Mission 16, you'll be stuck on an elevator with a lot of enemies. Just hit Devil Trigger and mash the sword button. S Rank should be achieved quickly, so long as you don't get hit.

Refer to Like A Hot Knife Through Butter for more information.

Like A Hot Knife Through Butter
DMC2: Reach level 3 on all Swords with Dante
You're able to purchase power-ups for your weapons with Red Orbs prior to the beginning of each mission. You'll need to upgrade one Gun and all Swords to level three to unlock these achievements for Dante. Refer to Full Armory for the locations of Dante's swords.

Full Armory
DMC2: Collect all Swords with Dante
Vendetta: Mission 7 - After you get the flame heart, cross the lava lake. There will be a platform with a door in the middle Go in, and the sword will be there.

Merciless: Mission 11. Break open the door in the falling spike room, then go back to where you came from and another route will have appeared below where you originally came in. Take this path to obtain the sword.

Highest Honor
DMC2: Achieve an S Rank on any Mission with Dante
Just like the original, you'll be given a rank at the end of each mission; S being the highest. The following list is what the game takes into account for rewarding an S Rank:

Time: How long it took to beat the mission
Style: How big your style combo was
Damage: How much damage you took
Orbs: How many orbs you collected
Items: How many items you used

You will need to earn at least three S Ranks and two A Ranks, or four S Ranks and either one A or B Rank out of the list above to earn an Overall S Rank. Pick a mission you think you can get an S Rank on and practice it. Do not use any item or get hit. You'll also need to get a decent combo rating for the S Rank in that category.

Below are the time and orb requirements for Dante's missions to earn an S Rank.

Mission 1: 8:30, 300
Mission 2: 6:30, 3000

Refer to To the Max for more information.

To The Max

The Darts: Mission 2 - When you have to navigate platforms after getting the Aerial Heart you'll notice one platform has a statue and a blue orb fragment. The Darts are inside the statue.

The Crankybomb: Mission 5 - If you play through as Dante, they're in the exact same place as the missile launcher - in the cargo hold of the plane.

The Bowgun: Mission 6. Near the end, there is an underwater section and a door that, when opened, ends the level. The Bowgun is in the underwater section.

Take Heart, Lucia
DMC2: Collect all Devil Hearts with Lucia
There are a total of eight.

Aerial Heart: Located in Mission 2, can't be missed.
Healing Heart: Located in Mission 3. It's off the wharf in an empty house.
Offense Heart: Located in Mission 4. It's in the tunnel at the start of the level. Kill all of the Infestants to get it.
Electro Heart: Located in Mission 5. Place the Evil Heart and it will appear.
Flame Heart: Located in Mission 5. It's at the top of the staircase, you'll need to use the Aerial Heart's ability to reach it.
Aqua Heart: Located in Mission 7. It's in the open in the second room, very hard to miss.
Quick Heart: Located in Mission 8. It's just after the Moving Sphere puzzle.
Chrono Heart: Located in Mission 11. This one is a bit tricky. There will be a big white vein with a yellow-ish light by the portal. Smash a few enemies into the vein and it will give you your final Devil Heart.

The Sky's The Limit
DMC2: Achieve an S Rank on any Mission with Lucia

Am I My Brother's Keeper?
DMC3: Finish the game on any any difficulty as Vergil
After finishing the story once, you will unlock Vergil. Start a new game, select Vergil, and beat any Mode with him. If you want it quick, start on Easy. Additionally, you can put the setting on Yellow Orb Mode to save yourself a good amount of time for The Path Less Travelled.

The Path Less Travelled
DMC3: Clear every mission in Yellow Orb Mode
When you begin a new game, you'll be asked if you want to play in Yellow or Gold Mode. The difference between the two is that Gold Orb Mode will revive you on the spot, if you have an Orb; if not, you can continue from the previous room that you entered. Yellow Orb Mode will let you start from the previous room you entered when you die, so long as you have a Yellow Orb; if you have none, you'll have to restart the whole mission. Anyway, beat the entire story in Yellow Orb Mode.

Hell of a Start
DMC3: Finish the game on Normal Mode with any character
You need to complete all 20 Missions on Normal Mode. If you die 3-5 times, you'll get a prompt that will ask you if you want to switch to Easy Mode; make sure that you say no. If you're having a hard time, go ahead and switch to Easy Mode, upgrade some stuff, and switch back over to Normal Mode through Mission Select.

Gone To Hell
DMC3: Finish the game on Hard Mode with any character
Hard Mode is unlocked after you beat Normal Mode. If you focused on upgrading your Health, Devil Arms, and Devil Trigger on your first playthrough, Hard Mode will be easy.

To Hell And Back
DMC3: Finish the game on Very Hard Mode with any character
Once you've gotten through Hard Mode, you will unlock Very Hard Mode. You really do need a maxed out Health Bar, Devil Trigger Gauge, and Royal Guard Style to beat this difficulty. Also, stock up on Holy Water, Vita Stars, and Yellow Orbs.

Hell Hath No Fury…
DMC3: Finish the game on Dante Must Die Mode with any character
After you've dealt with Very Hard Mode, you'll then unlock Dante Must Die Mode. You absolutely have to have maxed out the Devil Trigger, Health Bar, Guns, Devil Arms, and Styles. You also should max out the number of Vita Stars, Holy Water, and Yellow Orbs that you can carry. It's also recommended to have a large supply of Red Orbs so that you can purchase more. Using Super Dante or Super Vergil will be advantageous here. At this level, enemies can use their own Devil Trigger; kill them before they can use it. Once you beat Dante Must Die Mode, you'll unlock SUper Sparda and Super Corrupt Vergil.

Heaven Can Wait
DMC3: Finish the game on Heaven or Hell Mode with any character
The final difficulty, Heaven or Hell Mode, is unlocked after you beat Dante Must Die Mode. Luckily, all enemies (including bosses) die in one hit here... but so do you. Keep your distance with Ebony and Ivory, and carry around tons of Yellow Orbs.
Devil May Cry 3 - Secret Missions
Worst Kept Secret
DMC3: Complete a Secret Mission with any character
Refer to Left No Stone Unturned for more information.

Left No Stone Unturned
DMC3: Complete all Secret Missions with any character
In total, there are 12 Secret Missions. Each one will give you a Blue Orb Fragment. It's highly recommended to do this on your Hard playthrough, so that you upgrade your Health Bar as soon as possible while waiting it out to get specific skills and weapons that are required for many of the Missions; some of which cannot be purchased or obtained until later in the game.

The locations are as follows:

Secret Mission #1: Mission 3 - On 13th Avenue, through the Double brown doors next to a bin on your right
Secret Mission #2: Mission 5 - It's the strange looking face with red eyes on the wall behind the lift.
Secret Mission #3: Mission 7 - In the Dark Corridor. Jump up the wall to the right of the door on your right-hand side and it will be above the light.

Bloody Hell
DMC3: Complete Bloody Palace Mode
Bloody Palace Mode is unlocked once you beat the game on any difficulty. It's a gauntlet survival mode, where you must tackle wave after wave of foes to advance. Each wave will come with different enemies, and every 10th wave you will have a boss to fight. Each wave completion will award you with three options; the Water Portal which will take you up 1 level and give you health, the Lightning Portal that will take you up 10 levels and give you Demon Trigger magic, and the Fire Portal that will take you up 100 levels and give you nothing.

There are a total of 9,999 levels in The Bloody Palace. Use the Fire Portal unless you absolutely need more health. This means 101 waves of enemies with zero Health and Devil Trigger regeneration outside of what is given to you in combat. Oh, you can't save or use items by the way; if you die, it's back to the start.

Although Super Dante and Super Sparda do not make The Bloody Palace easy, they make it a lot easier. You won't have to worry about Devil Trigger since they have it infinitely. If you beat the game on Dante Must Die Mode, you will unlock these Super characters. The key here, however, is to make sure that you have fully upgraded Health, Styles, Devil arms, and Guns.
Devil May Cry 3 - S Rank
Devilish Deed
DMC3: Achieve an S Rank on any mission with any character
Refer to Hellish Honor for more information.

Hellish Honor
DMC3: Achieve an S Rank on all missions (any difficulty or character)
The S Rank is the highest rank that you can gain per mission, and it is based on five different requirements. To earn and S Rank, you need to earn an S in the at least three of the requirements and two A Ranks. You could also earn four S Ranks and then one A or B Rank. The factors are as follows:

How long it took you to complete it.
How much damage you took.
How many orbs you collected.
How many items you used.
Your maximum combo style.

The easiest way to do this is to do a playthrough on Easy Mode, aiming only for S Ranks, as the requirements are not as tight as they would be on later difficulties. Using Super Dante, Super Vergil, or Super Sparda will instantly void your chance of getting an S Rank.

DMC3: Defeat Jester in all of his forms
The Jester is fought three times throughout the game; the first time is not missable, as it's required by the story. The other two times are missable, but they're not easy to avoid. The locations of the Jester Portals are as follows:

Mission 5: At the start of the mission, and is impossible to miss.
Mission 12: In the room with the spiral staircase that leads to the boss Geryon.
Mission 17: In the room that was the entrance to the three different trials earlier on in the story.

Dante has four upgradable Styles; Trickster, Gunslinger, Swordsman, and Royal Guard. Each Style has three levels; it takes 30,000 points to upgrade to level two, and then 99,999 to get to level 3. Points are earned by simply killing enemies and bosses. This achievement will take around two playthroughs.

Locked 'n Loaded
DMC3: Reach the highest level for any gun with Dante
Any gun will do, but Ebony and Ivory are the cheapest to fully upgrade; clocking in at 15,000 Red Orbs.

For anyone hopeless with Sin Scythe paragraph 12:
Hit the scythe when they throw it at you, it should reflect back and stun them. Then go in for the kill with a shotgun.

The enemy file guide listed will say "stun", but you will only get the paragraph if you stun them with a reflected scythe then instantly kill with a shotgun.

Ah, shoot. Oh, well. And good to know that I can just play the secret missions later.

Thanks!

Regarding DMC 1. If I restart a level due to dying after using all of my yellow orbs, does it void the achievement of completing the game without using this orb?

Also, can I go back and do the secret missions as I continue through the game. or I have to do those secret missions during the current mission that I'm playing; for example completing mission 3 but skipping the first secret mission?
