'Dash Attack' Guide (Non-Mouse)
By 氷の羊
Each character has an attack that the game says can be performed by "attacking immediately after coming to a stop." I found this description a bit misleading so this guide goes over how to consistently perform these moves.

Move Names
Yunica's 'Lunge Attack'

This guide goes over one of the basic moves within the game. This move is called something different for each character as follows:

  • Yunica - Lunge Attack
  • Hugo - Power Shot
  • Toal - Slide Attack
How to Perform the Moves
Hugo's 'Power Shot'

Here is how the game describes how to perform the move:

Originally posted by Ys Origin Manual:
Attack immediately after coming to a stop.

This is somewhat true, but not under all circumstances. If you were running around for a while and attacked after stopping the move would not execute. The game looks for something a bit different, as described below:

  • First, make sure you are standing still.
  • Next, just tap any direction.
  • Finally, while hesitating less than a second after the movement, then push the attack button.

It can take a while to get the timing down perfectly but keep at it and you should be able to perform the move consistently without any problem at all!

I personally had trouble performing these moves for the longest time until figuring it out and hopefully I've been able to help you out with them too. If there is anything that you would like to see added to this short guide, please say so in the comments! Thank you for reading!

I use a somewhat more reliable method mainly because it's hard to pull out of an attack, and it is essentially a double-tap move before hitting Attack on the gamepad, though if you're using analogue it will be a bit tricker unless you have good control of the stick.
