Improvements
After tweaking things and looking at some forums posts I have found the perfect balance between graphics quality and performance.

60-75 FPS (combat = ~60 fps outside exploration ~75 fps)

My rig OC

W7
MSI 1070
i7-8700k
16GB RAM
1TB SSD Samsung Evo

Settings

Open Nvidia control panel > 3D Settings > Manage 3D settings > Global settings (tab)

OR you can make it game specific if you are worried about power consumption across all 3D applications (Program Settings tab instead of global) - 乇乂ㄒ尺卂 ㄒ卄丨匚匚

-Power management mode set to "Prefer maximum performance"
-Maximum pre-rendered frames set to "1"
-Threaded optimization set to "On"

In-game settings[imgur.com]

You can also try setting CPU priority for FFXV to High via the task manager under processes for ffxv_s.exe.

Note: This is with resolution scaling at 150% you can lower this if you want more fps and/or you can turn Model LOD to LOW and/or TRAM to low.

Hope this helps.

My rig:

GEForceRTX 2080 Super
Intel i9-10900
16gb ram

What do i need to do for this game to run? i've tried changing all the graphics options... it stutters, FPS is all over the place, it crashes all the time.

feel like getting a refund at this point - such a joke.

Any suggestions?

This helped me get better performance! Thank you!

And I just read your last two comments about your new settings. I have a gtx 1070 and an i7-5820, so I guess my setup is fairly similar to yours. I sometimes get these weird stutters when engaging in combat. Your performance is fine? If so, I might try downloading the 4K texture pack and play around with the settings a bit more.

I know it's been a few months since this guide was posted but is there any reason why you're using FXAA instead of TAA?

Also for those of you who think scaling 100% elminates the need for AA in this game. Just try it yourself and you'll see why I had it on during scaling. It makes a huge difference, at least with my computer hardware.

Also sorry for the really late reply.

This wasn't with the hi-res pack at the time of making this. The reason I had Model LOD set to average was because high LOD and the AA was really an awful pixalation on the hair specifically (high LOD adds more hair is why it actually looked worse with the AA and 100% resolution).

I am now using the 4k textures with different settings, basically everything on high, filter on low, no motion blur all Nvidia features set to on excluding VXAO and I basically turn off display fps and don't even concern myself with fps anymore - I get about 45-50ish with these settings (150% resolution scaling - because 100% and 125% look horrible without it but the performance drops heavily.

Also would recommend using SpecialK (which disables debug mode for higher fps) with unoffical reshade (which you can find on that thread) with the sharpen filter and possibly clairty.

Is this with the hi-res pack or no?

I think 150 scale is what fixed my choppy frames. Cause lowering the texture resolution to average from high caused it to be better looking and less laggy.
