Introduction
In one way or another, Supply Classes I through X offer front line units with ALL the combat/combat support equipment necessary to perform military operations.

As in the 'Real World', Arma 3 also needs supplies in order to perform military tasks. Arma 3 does a good job adding those logistical needs/requirements to create a more realistic gaming experience for its users.

There are 4 major logistical modes of transportation:
  • Motor (convoy)

  • Rail

  • Air (aircraft/helicopter)

  • Water (cargo ship/river craft)

There are 2 types of terminals:
  • Inland (and inland waterway)
  • Marine (ports)

Supply Distribution levels (using Afghanistan as a model)
  • Strategic (worldwide release)
  • Operational (theater release - Helmand Province)
  • Tactical (unit level release - Provincial Capital of Laskar Gah)

Supply Delivery
"Tailgate" Method (units move to the supply point)

Supply In-place (supplies are brought to the units)

Regardless of the supply distribution method (Tailgate or In-place), security must always be maintained.
Class I
Real World
Class I - Rations - Subsistence (food and drinking water), gratuitous (free) health and comfort items.

Arma 3
Modification dependent - Kurt's Survival System (KSS).
Great modification that requires players to eat/drink within a certain (changeable +/-) time limit.

Class II
Real World
Class II - Clothing And Equipment - individual equipment, tentage, organizational tool sets and kits, hand tools, unclassified maps, administrative and housekeeping supplies and equipment.

Arma 3
The game offers a wide variety of clothing and equipment. Modifications add an almost unlimited amount of new combinations.

Class III
Real World
Class III - POL - Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants (POL) (package and bulk): Petroleum, fuels, lubricants, hydraulic and insulating oils, preservatives, liquids and gases, bulk chemical products, coolants, deicer and antifreeze compounds, components, and additives of petroleum and chemical products, and coal.

Arma 3
User are able to refuel vehicles (default) without exiting.
The ACE modification allows a more realistic application of fueling operations.

Class IV
Real World
Class IV - Construction materials, including installed equipment and all fortification and barrier materials.

Arma 3

Class V
Real World
Class V - Ammunition of all types, bombs, explosives, mines, fuses, detonators, pyrotechnics, missiles, rockets, propellants, and associated items.

Arma 3
Many realistic uses of ammunition supplies exist
Class VI
Real World
Class VI - Personal demand items (such as health and hygiene products, soaps and toothpaste, writing material, snack food, beverages, cigarettes, batteries, alcohol, and cameras—nonmilitary sales items).

(Afghanistan)

Class VII

Class VII - Major end items such as launchers, tanks, mobile machine shops, and vehicles.

Arma 3

Class VIII
Real World
Class VIII - Medical material including repair parts peculiar to medical equipment.

* Class VIIIa – Medical consumable supplies (not including blood & blood products)
* Class VIIIb – Blood & blood components (whole blood, platelets, plasma, packed red cells, etc.)

Arma 3
A3 default settings are rather basic (heal or no heal)

Modifications, such as ACE offer an incredible in-game experience

Class IX
Real World
Class IX - Repair parts and components to include kits, assemblies, and subassemblies (repairable or non-repairable) required for maintenance support of all equipment.

Arma 3
A3 default settings are very basic - repair fully and quickly

ACE modification is much more realistic:
  • must be an engineer/repair specialist
  • must be enabled to perform engineer tasks (attribute settings)
  • 1 'toolkit' can only repair 1 vehicle
  • vehicles are divided into different areas:
+ engine/wheels/fuel tank/rotary etc.

Class X
Class X - Material to support nonmilitary programs such as agriculture and economic development (not included in Classes I through IX).

Arma 3
Civilian vehicles offer a good representation of Class X supplies
