Introduction
For some reason, Dragon Ball FighterZ does not currently support dinput controllers. Dinput controllers would include PS4 controllers, and most fight sticks. However, you can still get them to work with the game by using a program called x360ce, or using Steam's built-in controller support.
How to get it working
  1. Download x360ce from their website: Website Link[www.x360ce.com]
(Make sure it is the x64 version).
  2. Locate the game's local files by right clicking on it on the left side of the steam library, then going > properties > local files > browse local files.

  3. From there, navigate to the folder called RED, then Binaries > Win64.

  4. Drag the x360ce_x64.exe file into Win64.

  5. Run the exe file, and when it prompts you like the image shows press create.

  6. From here simply click next and it will auto-generate the settings. Then, click save and close the program before launching the game.
Another method
As many commenters have pointed out, there is another method to get fight sticks to work. This method involves using Steam's built-in controller support tools.

  1. In the top left corner of the steam interface, click on steam > settings > controller > general controller settings.

  2. This should bring you to a separate window with a few options. Tick the box that says "generic gamepad configuration support".

  3. At the bottom of the different options you should see your controller under the subheading "detected controllers". If you click on it, it will bring you to a window where you can map your desired controls.

Now whenever you start up a game these settings should apply. If they don't, try launching the game through big picture mode.

I have a Mayflash Universal Arcade Stick F500 V2 it works perfectly fine with every other fighting game but doesn't work with DBFZ even after doing the second method. Also had the same issue with an Xbox controller.

Yo just wanted to say thanks! Method 2 worked perfectly for me and now I don't need to run the mod program.

ps4 controller refuses to work with this game no matter what i do. Will be playing the game for like a few minutes and it randomly reassigns all the controls. Start button don't work and have to force quit game. Then the game works. Then it stops working. It's very odd. I use my PS4 controller fo every game..this is the only game doing this. There' snothing like being in a ranked match and all of the sudden my buttons are different.

It's f'd up.

i havent had to do anything to use a ps3/ps4 controller in this, still displays xbox commands which is mildly annoying and not sure why they wouldnt add that as an option but oh well.
