How To Use The Console Command Window Without A UK English Keyboard
Door [SIG] Emily
This guide should allow players who are not using a UK English layout keyboard to use the Windows Console Command when playing The Black Death. This unlocks the ability to use Admin commands when playing on a private server, LAN server or player owned/hosted/rented server.

I understand that this guide is written in UK English and this may not be easy for some players to read and understand, apologies in advance! I did not want to run this guide through a tool such as Google Translate as the translation may not have been accurate.

1. Adding English (United Kingdom) to your Windows System Languages
This section of the guide will show you how to add "English (United Kingdom) to your list of installed Windows languages.

1). Press your Windows Key or alternatively click on the Windows start icon in the bottom left hand corner of your screen on your Windows Taskbar.

2). Type in your search bar "language" you should see "Region & language settings".

3). Click on "Region & language settings".

4). This should open a window that looks like the image below, click on "Add A Language"

5). Click on "English" as seen in the image below.

6). Then click on "English (United Kingdom)" from the available languages, as seen in the image below.

2. Changing The Windows Keyboard Language
This section of the guide will show you how to change your Windows keyboard language from your default language to English (United Kingdom).

1). From doing the steps in Part 1 of this guide, you should now have the Keyboard Language setting appear at the bottom right hand corner of your screen in the corner of your Taskbar, next to the Time & Date.

Clicking on this icon should bring up something that looks like the image below. As I have a English (United Kingdom) keyboard I chose to add French to my languages in this guide to show how to switch keyboard languages.

2). Click on English (United Kingdom) to select the English layout keyboard option.

3). You may not notice a difference at first, but this has worked!

4). Press your Windows Key or alternatively click on the Windows start icon in the bottom left hand corner of your screen on your Windows Taskbar, and type in "On Screen Keyboard".

4.1). NOTE: Depending on how different your layout is to the "English (United Kingdom)" keyboard when you start to type on your physical keyboard (not the on-screen one) you may notice that the wrong letters and numbers appear on screen.

You may need to click on the Language Keyboard icon on the bottom right hand corner of your taskbar next to the Date & Time, and select your native language, and then type in "On Screen Keyboard" into the Windows Search bar on your Start Bar.

You can then switch back to the "English (United Kingdom" one after opening the On-Screen Keyboard application to switch back to the English United Kingdom layout by clicking on the Language Keyboard icon at the bottom right hand corner of your taskbar next to the Date & Time.

5). Open the "On Screen Keyboard". You should have an On-Screen Keyboard that looks like the image below: (Note: This is the English UK keyboard layout).

6). To switch back to your native Windows language simply click on the Keyboard Language icon again on your taskbar next to the Time & Date and click on your language.

7). As an example to show this, I have installed French (French) to my Windows. If I click on the French option on the keyboard language the On-Screen Keyboard will change to a French keyboard as seen in this image below: (Notice how the keyboard changes!)

8). For the next section of this guide, make sure you have the "English (United Kingdom)" on screen keyboard option set and active on your screen.
3. Using The English (United Kingdom) On-Screen Keyboard in The Black Death
This section of the guide will show you how to use your On-Screen Keyboard that you have set to English (United Kingdom) to bring up the Console Command window in The Black Death.

1). From doing the steps in Part 1 & 2 of this guide, you should now have the Keyboard Language setting appear at the bottom right hand corner of your screen with both your native language and also English (United Kingdom) installed. You should also now have the English (United Kingdom) on screen keyboard open too.

Your on screen keyboard should look like this:

Notice that the "Tilde" key is there above t he tab key and to the right of the 1 key!

2). NOTE: You may need to set The Black Death to run in "Windowed Fullscreen" in order for the In-Screen Keyboard to be overlay/on top of The Black Death application to be able to use the on-screen keyboard in game.

2.1). If you have un-ticked the box that reads "Show Setup Next Time" use our handy Steam post to fix this: http://steamcommunity.com/app/412450/discussions/4/1368380934267839822/

3). Start Steam and then start The Black Death, load into your LAN/Private server or your own hosted/rented server.

3.1). NOTE: If you have started The Black Death in "Windowed Fullscreen" mode, once you have loaded in game you should be able to hold the Alt key (the left one) and then keep pressing the Tab key until your on-screen keyboard appears over The Black Death, much like the image below:

3.2). I would recommend that you only have Steam, The Black Death and the On-Screen Keyboard running to make this easier for tabbing through programs and folders.

4). When you have the On-Screen Keyboard active over The Black Death like in the image, you should now be able to simply press the "Tilde" key on the On-Screen Keyboard for the console to appear! This is the black bar at the bottom of the above image with the " >_ " displayed.

5). From here you should be able to start typing in Admin commands, you may need to switch back to your native keyboard to type these in.

To set up an Admin Password and to see these Admin commands check out our "Dedicated Server Setup Guide" over on our Website: http://www.small-impact.com/BlackDeath/support/dedicated-servers/

Depending on how different your layout is to the English United Kingdom keyboard when you start to type on your physical keyboard (not the on-screen one) you may notice that the wrong letters and numbers appear on screen. You may need to click on the Language Keyboard icon on the bottom right hand corner of your taskbar next to the Date & Time, and select your native language.

Nice. That helped me a lot with the test so I do not first leveling for hours.
I did not need the in-screen keyboard. It was enough to change native windows language
so i could use my keyboard :)
And thanks again, you're the community angel :3
