Geldon's Epic Leveling Duration

Description
What does this plugin do?
For the most part, this greatly slows down the leveling rate of the base 18 skills in the game by about a factor of four times, meaning it will take four times as many uses to increase those skills to the next level as it does on the default balance.

However, there are a few exceptions: Speechcraft, Alchemy, Heavy Armor, Light Armor, and Restoration have only been slowed to one half, as they already progress pretty slowly by default.

I might release a later version that performs other changes if, while playing, I feel it is neccessary.

Why would I ever want to do such a horrible thing to myself as slowing down the grind?
The way I see it, Skyrim has far more content than its skill (and linked character level) progression rate would seem to support, especially if you've additional DLC such as Dawnguard installed. If that's not a factor for you, you don't need to run the plugin.

Is this plugin compatible with everything?
Due to only changing a few base global variables, it should only be incompatible with other plugins that also change these variables. In that event, the last plugin loaded that modifies those variables will determine what the values will be.

This plugin makes it virtually impossible for me to complete the main quest!
The whole intention of this plugin is to allow you to wander all over the place doing side quests and such without putting you too far ahead, but it has the consequence that, if you just rush the main quest and avoid wandering around chances are you're going to be dreadfully low on skills. However, most other content in Skyrim scales with character level, so you should otherwise be okay.

Why doesn't this affect the Vampire and Werewolf skills related to Dawnguard?
Because those skills are based off of entirely different progression systems. Besides, I'm reasonably okay with the existing balance there because those skills are somewhat self-limiting by nature of defining static powers.

I installed your plugin and it messed up everything. What do?
While it's possible my changing the skill gain rate caused some issue somewhere that I've yet to find, bear in mind that all this plugin does is supercede a few variables. It should be harmless in that, if you don't like what it does, the rate of progression should return to normal if you disable this plugin.

That said, you should always consider backing up your saved games whenever you install any new plugin.

I like this idea, but desire a different balance than you do. Can you make me that plugin?
This is almost as simple as plugins get, so my advice is to install the Creation Kit and do it yourself. The values you're looking for are under the Character, Actor menu. This resource[www.uesp.net] may be of help. and the method I used was just to change Skull Use Mult and Skill Use Offset for each skill by the desired factor. Check the file details to make sure you didn't change a bunch of other things by accident, removing them with the delete key and re-saving the plugin. That's about all I've got time to tell you, so good luck!

If you're not willing to install The Creation Kit and do it yourself, then try searching around Steam Workshop some more. This is such an easy plugin to make that you should find plenty of alternatives.

I don't even have the creation kit installed anymore, but I did look into how this could be done. According to this page [en.uesp.net], you can either change the fXPPerSkillRank variable (thus making you gain less level XP per skill point) or you could change the fXPLevelUpMult variable to increase the amount of xp required per level up.

It's not all that hard to use the Creation Kit, especially if you're making a mod as simple as this one that simply changes a variable value. I highly encourage you to install it yourself and give it a try.

can you make a mod that slows ONLY the main level? but keeps the pace or even increases the speed the skill levels go up? example: if im level 1 and take level 15 smithing to level 30 instead of taking my base level to like... 7 it would only go to like... 2 or 3... i like increasing my skills rate of leveling, but i dont want to be level 30-40 by the time i hit whiterun for the first time if thats the first actual hold i go to after riverwood....

This plugin does precede the release of the Dragonborn expansion. Because that expanson allows you to restart your skills, and get some perk point bonuses from it, it's less necessary to slow down the skill gain rate. Prior to that, this plugin existed to alleviate the boredom of cappign your skills and having nothing to do.

I seem to recall what I did in this plugin was simply tweak all of the default values of skill advancement rates. So, unless Amazing Followers also changes those same values, it should not have any compatibility problems.

does this one conflict with Amazing followers tweaks? i ve been getting some errors when hiring an follower, did change the follower leveling?

Cyclone there are some mods that make all skills start at zero, some are: I Know Nothing(its been removed), Clean Start - all skills level 1, and the one i am using now: Choose your own adventure

All sorts of stuff. Quests. Encounter tables. Stats. Skills. Feat allocations. Not saying it isn't doable, but it's tough to say what resetting your level may or may not break.

yeah true, it would be easyer to go back to level 10 because most quests start at that point right?
