The Moving Van

Well, this is the final addition for the 101 Dalmatians SFM vehicle set.

Film Appearances:
This is the moving van as featured in a classic Disney animated film, One Hundred and One Dalmatians (1961). It was first seen driving along a snowy country lane where Pongo and Perdy were crossing. It was later appeared in a thrilling car chase scene near the end of the film, where the Dalmatians escaped in it departing from Dinsford to London, and constantly rammed by Cruella's car.

A similar van with a different livery appeared in the beginning of a sequel, Patch's London Adventure, where Roger Radcliffe move his family, and their canine clan to their new home.

The van also made a cameo appearance at the end of The Aristocats (1970), in which it picks up a trunk that Edgar the Butler locked himself into.

About the Model:
Like the previous two models I've made, I kept the van's appearance look as closely to the original animated film as possible, as well as adding some realistic features like rusty texture in some areas. This time I made the model having more visible black outlines than the previous models, to make it feel more pencil drawn on paper like to it (or you might say Xerox process, in which 101 Dalmatians animation were made back in those days). The registration plates were not originally written in the animated film, but thanks to the original concept design me and a friend of mine found, I can give the van an old British-style number plate, since the film was set in England 1958. I did a number of research while making this van, it seems as though the animation team were inspired by a number of European truck design for their van, like somewhere between a Morris/BMC/Austin "5-ton" FE series, Shelvoke & Drewry or maybe a Renault Goélette.

For the interior of the van, I decided not to make too much details like the previous models I made, like dashboards etc. Furnitures are not included at the back of the van, so I would suggest using the existing furniture models from SFM library.

With Cruella's car and Jasper and Horace's van you can create 101 Dalmatians related fanarts/animations.

I hope it won't give you any errors when you download it for use on SFM. I may not be a good texture artist but I did pay a lot of attentions in 3D modeling.
