HOW TO HOST A SERVER

This will tell you how to host a server using the same computer you are playing on.

Notes/Corrections/Comments

Thanks to [name] who suggested that people who are having trouble should try to edit the config in their %appdata%

to reach this:
Hit WINDOWS KEY and R
Type %appdata%
Look for a folder labeled SCP
There should be a duplicate of the original config in there.


Slight Comment
I love helping you guys getting your games up and running. I was just as hyped for this game to drop as most of you guys were. However, I do ask that you don't come to me looking for me to host a server for you under the guise of seeking help/ "SCP is broken." If you want me to host, just ask and I will be much less annoyed about it that way.

BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING:

Before you do anything, you need to portforward. THE PORT YOU NEED IS 7777

Setting up the Settings

GO HERE:









Open the config template shown above and you'll see something like this:




Let me explain how to set up the BASICS of this, as most of this you really do not need to worry about.

Mapseed : Mapseed can be changed if you no longer wish it to randomly generate the layout
Intercom Max Speech Time: Can be changed to allow longer or shorter speech over the intercom
Friendly Fire: I would advise turning this to false, as with it on spawn killing is a thing

Server_IP THIS NEEDS TO BE YOUR IP, if you don't know your ip google "what is my Ip"
Server name: Self explanitory as it stands it will auto name itself your steam name's game

STARTING IT UP

Go to your library:
Go to the game:
Hit play:
HIT DEDICATED SERVER:



Then to launch the game itself go back into the files and launch the .exe

Joining your own game

Once you get in game, just join using the IP you used earlier.

Please note crashing is normal, the game has been live for less than 24 hours.

CLOSING

Double meaning here:

To close out of the dedicated server, you can't really exit out, you need to kill it through task manager. It will be the thing killing your system, not too hard to find.

Doge™:
first do "stop" in the console and then just close the cmd. Then it closes properly and steam doesn't complain that it's still open.
